In 1851, Puyallup was the site of the first binocular manufacturing facility in the United States. The company, Boston Optics, produced binoculars for sale to individuals and businesses. In 1870, Boston Optics moved to Olympia and became the first company to produce binoculars for sale to the general public. In 1905, Boston Optics merged with another optical manufacturer, General Electric Company. This merger led to a growth in production of binoculars that continued until World War II. During World War II, Oregon became an important center forbinocular production due to its location on the Pacific Coast and access to raw materials from Japan and other parts of Asia. By 1945, Oregon had become one of the leading producers ofbinoculars in America.

The Puyallup Tribe of Indians occupied the area now known as Puyallup County, Washington, from about 4,000 BC to 1700 AD. They were a confederation of various cultures. The first Europeans to arrive in this area were the Spanish in 1792. A post office called Puyallup was established in 1868, and the name was changed to Yakima in 1907. In 1959, Yakima became an incorporated town with its own government.
Puyallup is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,847 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The first European to visit Puyallup was Captain George Vancouver on his legs in 1792. In 1851, Puyallup's first post office opened and was called "Dakota." In 1911, the post office changed its name to "Puyallup" after the nearby Mount Rainier National Park. The name has been used continuously since then. In 1959, Puyallup became an incorporated town with a Mayor and Board of Trustees. In each year since its incorporation it has met to vote on annexation into King County except for one year when it was combined with SeaTac because that town had reached a population size of 2,500 people over 10 years while Puyallup had only 350 residents over 4 years. In 2006-2007 the Town Council increased property taxes by 3% as part of their budget proposal for 2007-2008 but were overruled by voters who narrowly rejected the increase with about 54% against it and 46% in favor of it due to concerns about possible job loss from annexations into neighboring towns if those towns gained county status. The history of Puyallup begins with two early settlers: James Cook and his wife Mary Ann (née Lewis) sailed from Botany Bay on HMS Endeavour on Christmas Day 1792 bound for Asia; however they never arrived in Puget Sound before being wrecked near present day Tacoma three days later without either Cook or any supplies or passengers. After this tragedy most likely many settlers abandoned hope of finding passage back home so they turned east towards what would become Seattle instead—the only known route between Asia and North America at that time! On July 11th 1861 Congress approved platting out 37 new townships within KING COUNTY following recommendations made by Governor Scullin; these boundaries are still in use today! On October 14th 1861 David Atherton patented land adjoining what is now Puyalum village including sections 5 & 6 (now Depot Street & Waverly Avenue), which would later be developed as part of Aberdeen’s Gold Hill neighborhood today – making him one of infancy’s earliest landowners hereabouts! This deed also included an allowance for future expansion westward onto adjacent properties located today along First Avenue NE outside present day Pioneer Square shopping mall! What followed were some long years filled with anticipation as development picked up steam all around us…a era we will always remember as “The Early Years!” With such positive news coming our way there MUST have been something special happening right?! Just 20 miles away another community began popping up – this time called Auburn! Assemblyman John Atchison offered $2o0 worth OF LAND TO THE PEOPLE OF SEA TAC FOR THEM TO ADD TO THEIR COUNTY WITH NO HINDS OR BARRIERS IN PLACE!!! IT WAS AS IF HE Had Said It Out Loud!!! So much happened during those early days that we can barely keep track let alone write about them all….but let’s just say our love affair with #Puyalum started way back then!!!!!

After America's independence was secured, many Americans traveled to Europe and began using binoculars to view European art, architecture, and landscape. During World War I, some military commanders used binoculars to map enemy positions on the battlefield. By 1945, binocular technology had advanced enough that television networks began airing live broadcasts of actual wars in other regions of the world with use ofbinoculars as part of their reporting process. Puyallup is a small town in the state of Washington, located in King County. The population was 1,571 at the 2010 census. Puyallup is named for Pierre-Charles Puyallup, an American explorer and fur trader who explored and charted the Strait of Juan de Fuca in 1792. The first permanent residents of what would become Puyallup were people from British Columbia who followed Gold Rush fever in 1855. They founded the town on land they had acquired along Puget Sound as part of a land grant from King George III to his son, Sir John A. Macdonald. In 1876, local businessman James Wolkentin bought 2,500 acres (800 ha) east of the town and built Wolkentin's Mill which became one of the largest flour mills in western Washington. By 1920, Wolkentin's mill had been sold to Juglar & Sons Brewing Company and it continued operation until 1976 when it closed down due to competition from large brewers such as Anheuser-Busch InBev NA and MillerCoors Inc.. The mill has been preserved as a museum open to the general public since 1984. In nearby Issaquah, Wash., Puyallup Elementary School serves students grades kindergarten through eighth grade; its building opened in 1966 with classes starting at that time for all nine elementary schools within King County: Eastside Middle School (grades 9-12), Westside Middle School (grades 13-15), Northside High School (grades 16-18), Southside High School (grades 19-21), Gunnison Valley Intermediate School(grades 22-24), and Park Heights Intermediate/Secondary School(grades 25-28). Puyallup also contains two Junior Community colleges: Seattle Pacific University - Campus Pier 61 on Mercer Island which opened its doors in fall 2006 with bachelor's degrees offered online; and Western Washington University - Yakima Valley campus opening its doors in fall 2007 with certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees available online as well as certificates for business administration and health sciences programs.
