Today, Pullman remains an important cultural and commercial center for both towns and regions within King County; as well as a popular tourist destination for those visiting Seattle or other areas near King County’s northwest coastline. There are several museums within walking distance of pullmantown including: Spokane Museum of History & Art; Western History Museum; Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; and Microsoft’s Regional History Library at Snoqualmie Falls which contains many artifacts from Puget Sound area businesses that were helped develop Redmond during World War II

The Pullman Company built the first train station in Pullman in 1883. The company became one of the largest employers in the city, and its trains running through Pullman brought residents and visitors from all over Washington to see the beautiful country side and downtown buildings. The town continued to grow after it was made a Borough in 1907. It reached its peak during World War II as many soldiers pulled down the high-rise hotels that lined Northwestern Avenue to build bomb shelters for their unit’s officers. After the war,pullman declined rapidly as industry moved out and people left for new towns or cities. However, some of the high-rise hotels remain standing today as part of Pullmen’s history while other aspects have been lost or destroyed over time such as library and post office building which are now part of Northwest Community College

The town had been founded in 1857 by General George Armstrong Custer and his family as a trading post on the Snake River. It grew rapidly during the gold rush days of Oregon Territory (the area now known as Idaho) and soon became an important center for transportation and commerce. In 1871,Pullman was incorporated as a city; it would grow even more rapidly in the years to come. The Pullman Strike of 1903 was one of the largest labor protests in American history; it led to mass arrests, property damage, and loss of life. The strike ultimately failed but left a lasting legacy: Pullman is today one of America's most famous cities.
