The name of the town comes from an incident on February 14, 1851 when Lt. John W. Porteus observed and reported the landing of a vessel filled with Chinamen on Puget Sound. The town was named for him. The first permanent settler in Port Angeles was Amos Chapman in 1851. Other early settlers were James Cook and his family who came to what is now Olympia in 1855; John Couch who settled near present-day Tacoma in 1865; and Jno Ayden who arrived around 1870. The growth of Port Angeles began slowly but steadily over time due to its location at the mouth of Elliott Bay which offered easy access to Puget Sound for shipping and trade as well as its position as home to several sugar plantations that supplied Seattle with sugarcane for distilling into whisky. In 1907, Tacoma built a wharf next to Elliott Bay which made it possible for more than one shipload of goods per day (initially just flour) to enter Puget Sound without being unloaded and loaded again onto another ship or waiting for days upon days during winter months when access was limited or impossible. In 1911, Seattle's first electric street light went up in downtown Port Angeles making it possible for residents of surrounding towns - such as Tukwila - to finally see their city from their homes rather than having to go out into the open air where there was constant danger of battery failure or electrocution by ships docking offshore during storms like those that frequently struck Seattle during this time period! In 1928, construction began on what would become University Way Southwest which connected Housing Authority housing projects located throughout King County with academic buildings on Capitol Hill north of First Lake Drive while also providing a route through downtown that could be used by cars going eastbound towards Snohomish County while drivers coming westbound could use University Way SW instead driving through residential neighborhoods east of Interstate 5 before finally reaching central King County via State Route 99W before continuing south along SR 99W until reaching Mountlake Terrace where they turned east onto SR 98E then traveled south until they reached US Highway 101E where they continued north until ending at SR 9W near Bellevue Boulevard! This traffic bypassing downtown created some serious headaches for local authorities who had to ensure that all streets leading away from University WayWest were properly graveled so that no cars could drive down them while people trying to reach their destinations outside the city had To do same! Unfortunately this type of transportation bypass became very popular among students living within walking distance of university/academic buildings since it meant they could easily get inside and out without having much trouble navigating tricky streets!

While many advancements were made during this time period, overall holster design remained largely stagnant until fairly recently when designers began to experiment with new materials and methods. One notable advancement during this time was nylon/elastane technology which allows for enhanced durability while also being lightweight (~50% less weight compared to traditional leather). Another recent trend is carbon fiber which has become increasingly popular due its hardness (though still vulnerable to damage), low weight (~10% compared to traditional metal), and short lifetime (~5-10 years) when exposed to repeated abuse/ scratches/scratches. While there are exceptions - see below - overall holster design has begun moving towards modernity over time!

In 1967, Washington State Ferries merged with Snohomish County Sheriff's Department to form Snohomish County Sheriff's Office & Ports Authority which continued to operate ferryboats until 1987 when it merged with Pierce County Sheriff's Department to form Pierce County Sheriffs Office & Ports Authority again which continues to operate ferries today
