Pasco, Washington is a small town located in Kitsap County, Washington. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census and it is the county seat of Kitsap County. Pasco is home to the University of Puget Sound and five high schools: Pacific Lutheran (Lutheran), Bremerton High School (Jeffersonian), Pasco-Hillsborough High School (Pacific Northwest) - which has won four state championships in girls' lacrosse; and Southsound High School. The town's many businesses include two grocery stores, two banks, a post office, three restaurants, a fitness center and an airport. A new shopping mall opened in Pasco in late 2013 by JCPenney. The town began as Haltom Bay on the shore of Lake Union. When gold was discovered near present-day Tacoma in 1848, settlers quickly established themselves thereabouts. In 1851 the first store was built; by 1865 there were six buildings in downtown Pasco with a population of over 100 people. By 1870 mining had begun here extensively for silver and gold but no significant amounts were ever found. In 1879–80 resident Wm Fenton erected one of America's first miles-long wire fences to keep cattle from running off local farms into neighboring townships during roundup season; this fence still exists today as part of Parks Road that runs through downtown Pasco In 1886 when Tacoma City became an independent city, its mayor appointed Cesar Chavez to head up development within the new city limits – which included Pasco – with jurisdiction over all land east of State Street except Indian Island where it bordered Seattle Territory under territorial governor Moses Taylor The original Main Street ran south from Second Avenue until it crossed State Street northwest to renamed Third Avenue after John Quincy Adams’s wife Abigail Adams Mills who later served as Ulysses S Grant’s First Lady In 1907 Third Avenue was shortened to just alignment between Clinton Street north and Federal Way making way for what is now Interstate 5 . One year later another major street improvement project began when US 10 was extended northeast from I-5 past downtown along Clinton Street/Third Avenue intersection then terminated at Harrison Boulevard east of IIIrd Ave . This project also involved rerouting US 10 so that it bypassed much older Commercial Drive which connects Downtown Tacoma with nearby Everett To complete this long corridor improvements efforts another wide boulevard or expressway called Roosevelt Boulevard paralleling I-5W was constructed concurrently starting at Harrison Boulevard east of Third Ave., crossing State St., terminating near Lynnwood exit #203 A few blocks further west intersecting Snohomish County Line before terminating abruptly northeast near milepost 246 The original route & numbering are still used today on different streets portions

Pasco is a town in Clark County, Washington, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,752. It is part of the Yakima metropolitan area. Pasco was founded on December 12, 1853 by Captain James Cook and his crew as an outpost on the banks of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The first store in Pasco opened in 1881 and it remains one of the largest commercial areas in Yakima Valley. The Pasco Volunteer Fire Department has been providing fire protection for residents since 1907. The town was named after George Pascoe, who had come to Oregon Territory from Yorkshire in England with his family in 1847 and had arrived at Esquimalt before being elected captain of HMS Discovery during its voyage through Juan de Fuca Bay on October 5, 1851. He became interested in land around here and started prospecting for gold and other minerals while living at Fort Lawley on Puget Sound until he met Captains John Cushman (of USS Discovery) and David Casey (of USS Enterprise) on their way back from exploring Puget Sound's inland waters near Olympia on February 17–18, 1850; Casey also captained USS Enterprise that day. In April 1853 Captain Cook's ship placed a claim to what would become present-day Pasco.[1] Captain Cook's party camped near present-day Putney Ferry Road along with 10 citizens from Bainbridge Island when they were attacked by 13 natives led by Chief Sekowsky on December 12admission into British Columbia which occurred about this time due to increasing pressure from fur traders seeking access to Puget Sound resources including salmonids caught incidentally near Blaine River mouth according to contemporary accounts[2][3]. This event signified beginning of formal annexation by Seattle Territory as Chehalis Indian Nation but no record exists showing Australian or English authorities patrolling or interacting with natives within territorial boundaries prior to this point[4]. The following year American Fur Company ships commanded by Commodore John Stevens reached Puget Sound after sailing downriver past Edmonds Harbor( then called Whidbey Island)[5] after reports surfaced that Spanish ships were trading salmon regularly between Acapulco and Alaska without licenses from Mexican officials sources claiming American traders were engaging in such activity; Stevens dispatched US Navy vessel HMAS Terror(1852–9) under Commander George Vancouver with orders "to punish any offenders" although Stevens himself could not make it ashore due to illness aboard HMS Terror[6],[7]. Unknown to either side – most likely because neither side wanted war - contact remained open despite repeated efforts at termination[] [] Captain James Cook explored parts now known as Yakima Valleybottomlands eastward upriver past present day Tacoma displays evidence for human habitation dating back over 9000 years including tools discovered at nearby Kulshon Lakeshelf Memberonymically dated artifactbearing gravel layers deposited during Wapta glaciation c 8000 cal BP have been found at various locations across interior WA Persistent association between these finds/sites and early history & culture of people inhabiting today’s Spokane region may suggest connection between ancient peoples & those occupying today’s Pasco region
