Pasco, Washington is a town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. Pasco is located on Puget Sound and has a humid subtropical climate. The community was founded in 1853 by Captain George Vancouver and his crew of HMS Discovery as Fort Vancouver on the site of what is now the community's namesake beach. At first it consisted of just 10 residents but rapidly grew due to its strategic location: close to Puget Sound and the Tacoma Ship Canal which connected Puget Sound with Lake Washington for shipping and transportation purposes. In 1907, when Pasco became one of the cities annexed into Seattle, it had a population of slightly over 8,000 people (the annexations had been automatic because both cities were considered contiguous within Seattle). However, growth continued apace throughout most of World War II as Boeing began production at nearby Renton Airport and other businesses moved into Pasco; by 1945 there were more than 20,000 people living in Pasco alone. After Pearl Harbor Attack during World War II many Japanese Americans were incarcerated in local jails and then transported to concentration camps in Idaho or Wyoming while their families were forced to flee eastward across the U.S.–Canada border. In 1942 Pacific Ballistics Laboratory built an experimental test range adjacent to Pasco that contributed significantly to America's victory against Japan during World War II After post-World War II prosperity resumed in Pasco with dramatic growth via technology companies such as Microsoft Office 2000 outgrowth continued until current day with over 30 businesses employing over 2200 people including healthcare/medical devices manufacturer Medtronic During wintertime much activity takes place on public beaches accessable only through permit from city government permitting process . These include kite flying/snowboarding/diving; rock climbing; snowmobiling; ice skating; walking around downtown core . All activities are subject to City Manager’s approval prior to beginning

Pasco is a small town in WA, located on the Olympic Peninsula. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Pasco was founded in 1853 as part of the Whitman County seat. It became a city in 1907 and has since grown to be one of the largest communities on the peninsula. The area that now includes Pasco was first inhabited by the Pascagoula people. They were displaced by Spanish settlers in 1778 and had no choice but to move. In 1803, explorer George Vancouver passed through what is now Pasco and named it after Santiago de Chile, his discovery of that year's Strait of Juan de Fuca. The Pascagoula people were forced out of their territory by white settlers in 1827 and never regained their autonomy or land rights. In 1853, Whitman County was created from parts of Snohomish and Kitsap Counties following the Uto-Aztecan War between Mexico and America over territorial claims in northern Baja California Territory (now Mexico). After Mexican independence from Spain in 1821, Washington Territory formed from most of southern Arizona Territory with its capital at Tucson. In 1863, Congress transferred ownership of part of central Oregon to Washington Territory as part of a larger push for statehood across all territories combined into what would become the United States. On February 14th, 1907, Pasco became a city after being chosen as one among several finalists for becoming an urban center around Puget Sound due to its growing population and strong economy; it had been serving as an agricultural center since before incorporation into Seattle Municipal Union (now Cityof Seattle). During World War II, much industrial production took place within close proximity to Pasco including Boeing Airplane wings manufacturing facilities for military bombers such as Boeing 707s used for raids against Japan during 1945-1946; these sites are now closed down but still visible from Interstate 5 near SeaTac Airport%. A significant number of military veterans settled here during war time which helped spawn many businesses related to defense industries such as computer systems design companies such as Microsoft Aviation Center (later renamed Microsoft Redmond), Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space Company (later Lockheed Martin Space Systems)and Northrop Grumman Corp’s ATK Missile Systems Division until divestitures occurred following USAF retirement plans announced in 1978; these businesses remain active today albeit smaller scale operations The port town also enjoyed some tourism success with visits by Elvis Presley on July 16th 1969 while he performed at Edsel Ford Stadium nearby; this event drew more than 12 million spectators who watched him perform live on TV across various networks worldwide As recently as 2000 however development began encroaching upon much historically important commercial waterfront property including Smith Barney Bank building dating back to 1898 which sat vacant until reactivated by King County government along with other buildings associated with early modern Tacoma/Pasco banking history including First National Bank Building* (*This building currently serves KIRO-TV newschannel) Another anchor point lost during this time period was Point Defiance Lighted Way which marks both endpoints for Seattle– Tacoma Highway 10 Alternate route prior to its current routing adjacent Millennium State Park *(Point Defiance Lighted Way historic marker can be found at milepost 246 just east side highway off I-5 exit 111) While not directly impacted by development per se*, certain aspects surrounding transportation (such as new light rail construction concurrent with downtown growth) did impact business activity indirectly resulting in increased commute times for residents . By 2018 however most major retail developments have occurred outside Downtown Pasco making it almost exclusively a residential community . Economic stability has continued despite increasing competition from nearby Bellevue , Everett , Tacoma etc.; despite this recent surge there has been little change or increase overall crime rates over last several decades even while neighboring cities experience increases annually
In 1853, the first organized Methodist church in Pasco was built. The first pastor of the church was John A. Ferguson. In 1881, a new church was built on East Market Street and named the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Pasco after Bishop James H. Hill. The present-day First Methodist Episcopal Church building on South State Street was dedicated in 1907 and is also known as "The Hill". In 1916, the Pasco Ladies' Auxiliary formed and began meeting at the First Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1951, the Pasco Senior Citizens Association formed and met at the First Methodist Episcopal Church until its closure in 1984. In 1984, a new senior citizens center was erected at The Hill and it is now called “Pasco Senior Living”. On July 1, 1985, Holy Trinity Catholic Parish joined forces with Holy Cross Orthodox Parish to form St. Joseph's Catholic Parish which continues to meet at The Hill today.
