In 1872–73 General James Wickersham led an army through King County during the Yakima War and discovered large deposits of gold near present-day Pasco; these discoveries made him one of the most wanted men in America and has been credited with helping spur development around Tacoma during this time period. In 1886 Alfred Condon built his own millinery store on Second Street NW which remains active today as One Pacific Place – home of Northwest Asian American Heritage Museum & Cultural Center (NAMIC), Art Gallery of WA (AGW), Japanese American National Museum (JANM) & JapaneseAmerican Service Learning Program (JASLP). At that time there were only two schools open in Whatcom County: Snohomish High School serving students until 1908 when it merged with Bellingham High School; then Cascade Junior College opened Sixth Avenue SW which served students until 1916 when it merged with Everett Agricultural Institute which closed due to financial difficulties; finally Cascade Technical Community College opened First Avenue SW between Main Street NE and 17th Street SE offering vocational training until 1978 when it merged into Pierce College]. The townsite cornerstone was laid by Mayor Edwin Boren on December 5th 1888." The early pioneers also planted orchards along Third Avenue NW which still thrives today as Pioneer Orchard; Fourth Avenue NE ran parallel to Third Avenues NW until 1915 when it split off becoming Fourth Ave SE running east-west; Fifth Ave NE ran parallel to 4th Avenues NW until 1905 when it split off becoming Fifth Ave SE running north-south - all this street design provided ample opportunity for cross streets/ thoroughfares such as Constitution Blvd., 14th St., Bayview Ave., Union Way NE etc.; several churches also located close by including Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Ninth AvenueNW next door to Pioneer Orchard before merging into Holy Cross Episcopal Church later that same year.. By 1910 there were over 100 businesses operating out of just 10 buildings! Pasco, Washington is a town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Pasco's name comes from the Spanish word "pascoal", meaning "to go out". The first permanent settler in Pasco was Lorenzo de la Paz who arrived in 1792 and named it San José de Arcángel after his patron saint. Other early settlers included Manuel Gomez y Prado (1795-1860), Francisco Hernandez (1806-1894), Antonio Aguilar y Valdez (1800-1872), José Castro y Castro (1810-1893), and Joaquin Castro y Herrera ( 1823-1900). The first post office was established in 1835. The town began to grow rapidly during the late 19th century when transportation became available on the Puget Sound Railway. In 1881, Henry Haines donated land for the Pasco School District which would become one of the most influential districts in Kitsap County history. In 1907, Haines donated another piece of land for a school district that would include Pacific Beach and Riverview Hills as well as Pasco proper. In 1923, King County voters approved resolutions endorsing annexation by King County of Puget Sound into Washington state; this action led to rapid growth within Pasco and its neighbor Pacific Beach until 1925 when both towns were annexed into Seattle. In 1927, construction started on what is now Interstate 5 near present day northbound exit 95A - this project helped spur heavy development within Pasco over the next few decades with restaurants, shopping centers, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure being built during this time period which continues to this day including new medical buildings such as Harborview Medical Center and Northwest Detention Center just south of downtown Pasco!
