Oak Harbor is a city in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first European to visit what is now Oak Harbor was Captain George Vancouver in 1792. He called it "Hudson Bay", and thought its natural resources were very valuable. In 1805, Peter Puget Sound led by John Cordon discovered Congress Point and named it after himself - Puget Sound City (now Tacoma). On December 15, 1856, US Commodore James Kockenborough anchored his ship "SS Olympia" at Congress Point to take possession of land claimed by Nicholas Biddle under the terms of the Treaty of Tappan Creek. The town site was surveyed by Edwin Jarvis and named Oak Harbor on July 16, 1861. In 1862-1863, many settlers came from Tacoma to start new lives in what would become Oak Harbor - including Jens Jensen and his family who founded Jensen's Hotel/Motel on First Avenue SE in 1865; John Klinge who built a sawmill on Second Avenue SE in 1870; Harry Dyer who founded Dyer's grocery store on Third Avenue SE in 1875; Charles O'Malley who opened the first post office in Oak Harbor on Fourth Avenue SE in 1897; Forrest Melson who established Melson's Hardware Store on Fifth Avenue SW in 1903; Wm Henson who opened Henson's restaurant at 12th Street NW which became one of the most popular restaurants east of Seattle during the early twentieth century In 1916-1917 local resident Sumner Fenton developed an idea for developing a small water system that could be used for irrigation within walking distance of most homes - this system became known as Fenton Field (later renamed North Park) with improved water quality coming from Lake Union – providing access for residents to farm their own food without having to go out into farming country where there was often no water availability or poor quality water facilities

Oak Harbor is a small town in Okanogan County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,906 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern bank of the Klamath River. The original name of the town was "Osoehoma." The first post office in Oak Harbor was established on December 3, 1871. A store and garage were built in 1872 and operated by John Dutton. In 1875, a sawmill was built andoperated by Wm. Fenton until it stopped operation in 1961 due to pollution problems. In 1902, Wanamaker's department store opened and quickly became one of the most popular shopping destinations in Northwest Puget Sound. In 1907, an electric light plant became operationaland began providing lighting for all of Oak Harbor except for two areas along the river near where Interstate 5 crosses it: One near Commercial Street andthe other near Airport Boulevard. This made Oak Harbor one of only a few communities in America with its own municipal water supply (the others beingcommunities within Seattle). In 1925, Presbyterian missionaries founded what is now known as Covenant House School there after moving from Spokane to dispense religious education to Native Americans living on reservations throughout Northwest Washington during that decade-long period when those reserves were newly created under federal statute as part of the Indian Reorganization Act of 1935. On July 1, 1959, Okanogan County signed an Agreement with Tacoma Municipal Power Company (later Pacific Gas & Electric) to become energy independent through transmissionof electricity from Bonneville Dam between Tacoma and Olympia via Oak Harbor Creek gorge; this marked(for Okanogan County)the first time any county had done so outside ofSeattle metropolitan area since cityhood in 1889!
