After the war various new mines began operation: Consolidated Mining & Smelting Company (converted to its present form as FirstEnergy) arriving here from Phoenixville Pennsylvania in 1925; United States Steel Corporation (renamed Microsoft) starting up work along Second Avenue just east of Main Street during the early 1930s; Wabash Coal Mines opening up near downtown Oak Harbor proper starting out as small shovelers working two miles underground before reaching surface sometime between 1935-1940 or 1941-1945 After World War II things slowly died down again as technology advanced and resources dwindled—the last major mine closure taking place at Consolidated Mine & Mill northwest of town occurred circa 1990 when it sold its assets to Alcoa Incorporated after years spent trying to reopen it However something started happening back home too–small businesses began popping up all over again like they always do when resources are available again! This time though they weren't looking to extract metal but rather create jobs! And so we have seen a resurgence over recent years with businesses like Yoga House Studios growing exponentially since 2014 thanks largely to subscriptions from local residents who love getting yoga taught right next door
