In 1920, Samuel Halsey opened his own store here which became one of the most influential Ammo stores in Northwest America. Halsey was known for his high-quality Ammunition products and he helped shape how people thought about ammunition during this era. He also funded research into high-capacity rounds for military use which eventually led to their introduction into civilian markets. In recent years, Oak Harbor has become known for its booming Ammunition industry (mainly due to its large inventory of munitions). The town has seen a surge in activity over the past few years with many new businesses opening up around this iconic industry sector. Another story has it that lumbermen had been driving logs through Puget Sound for years when they came across a large piece ofoakland lying on its own beach. They took possession of it, naming their new town after this beautiful wooded landmark. Today, many people believe both stories are true - indeed, Oak Harbor may owe its name to more than just an majestic oak tree! Oak Harbor's history goes back more than 100 years and includes some well-known figures such as local physician Drs Benjamin Fenton and Daniel Webster; pioneer ranchers George Catlin and Elijah Parish; plus numerous entrepreneurs who built businesses in what is now our quaint little town: The Old Pacific Lumber Company (1901-1960), The Friends School (1910-1981), American Cannery & Seafood Company (1911-1993), First National Bank (1899-1966). In addition to these businesses there were also several theaters which operated until around 1970 - including The Majestic Theatre which played host to premieres of movies like "The Searchers" and "The Godfather". In recent years there have been few permanent residents but many visitors who come here specifically for shopping or tourism reasons - including several golf courses which make Oak Harbor one of Queenstown’s premiere tourist destinations – making it easy for locals and tourists alike to get involved in all things related to maritime history!
