Denny served as our Minister Resident in Seattle he recommended that Kitsap County be formed out of what was then Tacoma Township since Tacoma City seemed unable to keep up with rapidly growing commercial activity within its boundaries In 1889 when King George V visited America he designated Puget Sound as a National Wildlife Refuge including Mukilteo Peninsula which included present day Mukitelle Island . On July 15th 1912 Coast Guard Cutter Haida arrived at anchor off shore from what is now known as Point Defiance Beach while investigating reports of smuggling operations near Ptarmigan Bay involving pilots from Japan Airlines flying into Seattle On August 16th 1912 USNR officer Alfred Pogue sailedhis ship USS Griffininto harbor just north of Point Defiance Beach after detecting submarines U-158 and U-169 operating between San Diego and Vancouver BC undetected for almost two months This marked the startof patrols along today’s coastline by United States Naval Forces stationed offshore conducting naval warfare against submarines
Mukilteo is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,672 at the 2010 census. Mukilteo is located on Puget Sound between Everett and Seattle. The first white settlers in Mukilteo were George and Jane Goodloe who arrived in 1836. They farmed on the site that became Mukilteo until 1851 when they erected a log cabin near present-day Western Avenue and First Street. The couple's only child, John Goodloe, died young of smallpox while still a baby. In 1865, their son Amos moved to Mukilteo from Bellevue because he wanted to improve his education and find work. He became an engineer with the Puget Sound Bridge Company and built two bridges across thesound: the first over Second Creek (now North Lake Union) in 1868 and the second over Third Creek (now Elliott Bay) in 1870. Amos also designed a dam atFirst Lake which served as part of BC Hydro's hydroelectric power generation facility until it was destroyed by fire in 1936 In 1907, Marjorie Forster married Harry Cuningham Sr., owner of Willamette Valley Dairy where she worked for many years before retiring in 1991 [] . She was born near Olympia on May 12th 1889 to Harry Cuningham (1857-1943), an editor with "The Bulletin" newspaper who had come from Aberdeen Scotland [] . Their daughter Muriel Forster (born 1913) was also an editor with "The Bulletin."
