Mountlake Terrace is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,547 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of Seattle and is bordered by Bellevue to the north, Mercer Island to the east, and Sumner to the south. The first recorded use of a weapon flashlight in Mountlake Terrace was on November 5th 1915 when Wm. Hargrave used one to light up his way as he walked home from work. Mountlake Terrace, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,547 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area. Mountlake Terrace is located on the southern slopes of Mount Rainier National Park and adjacent to Green Lake. The first Europeans to visit what is now Mountlake Terrace were members of the Vancouver Expedition in 1804 as part of a group led by Captain George Vancouver. They named it after David Nicholl's estate on nearby Elliott Bay, which they visualized as "mountain peak." The Bellingham lumber company was founded in 1907 by John Dutton and his brother-in-law Edwin Forbes. In 1912, Alexander Graham Bell donated land for a telephone line from Seattle to Tacoma and Mountlake Terrace became one of its townships. In 1916–1917, during World War I, Mountlake Terrace served as an internment camp for Japanese American Citizens because it was then illegal for Americans not born in Japan or Asian descent to serve in the military without prior approval from local authorities. In 1984, Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen purchased over 1 million acres (500 km²) including parts of present day Mountlake Terrace and Green Lake from the government of Snohomish County for $US1 billion dollars; this land includes much that makes up today's MtLakeTerrace neighborhood growth area (MtLakeTerrace + University Village). The annexation created much controversy given that many residents wanted their homes/apartments situated within their old neighborhoods rather than being transplanted into new communities with different names and addresses—a process commonly referred to as " gentrification." However,Allen has stated that he intends to keep most if not all of MtLakeTerrade's historical buildings and infrastructure intact while creating new community amenities such as a library and health club on site - something that has been met with mixed reactions among some longtime residents who feel displaced by development pressures near their homes while others see increased access to quality education opportunities nearby The name MtLakeTerrade comes from two places: Elliott Bay where David Nicholl used it for his farm house & eventually called itMountRainier due to its resemblance physically (& politically) to our mountains outside Seattle

Mountlake Terrace is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 946 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east side of Mountlake Terrace Lake. The Carnegie library and museum are in Mountlake Terrace. Mountlake Terrace was founded by John Jacob Astor in 1853 as a small community on land he had bought from the Secretary of State for Washington Territory. Astor named his new community after his friend and business partner, Samuel Clemens, Sr., who resided nearby in Bellevue. In 1861, when the area became part of Seattle, Mountlake Terrace remained an isolated community until it joined the city's core area in 1907. In 1951, Mountlake Terrace property was annexed by Seattle to form the new city of Seattle; however, since that time there has been occasional efforts to keep its name alive as a separate village or town withinSeattle. In October 2006, residents voted 3-2 to petition for a change to their locally controlled school board election rules so that they could allow local control over education withinSeattle limits instead of being governed by King County officials. On December 5th 2007 ballots were mailed out and returned indicating that citizens voted against changing school board elections but support greater autonomy for villages or towns withinSeattle limits Today Mountlake Terrace is home to several businesses including Applebee's restaurants and Starbucks coffee shops among others The Carnegie Library opened its doors on November 4th 1888 with books donated by prominent American library builder Andrew Carnegie The building currently houses more than 350 items such as art galleries and media storage units In 1961 Microsoft founder Bill Gates moved into one of two homes built adjacent to Carnegie Library during his initial foray into technology
