Mountlake Terrace, Washington is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Mountlake Terrace was first settled by pioneers in 1851 and was incorporated as a village on July 15, 1905. It became an unincorporated community on May 14, 1907. On November 24, 1937, it became a CDP after the annexation of nearby Unalaska by Mountlake Terrace.

Mountlake Terrace is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is the only incorporated community in King County and one of two townships in the county. Mountlake Terrace was founded in 1892 by farmers from Maple Ridge and Issaquah who desired to get away from Seattle's noise and pollution. The name "Terrace" comes from an aboriginal word meaning "ridge." The first post office at Mountlake Terrace was established on December 12, 1892. The name change happened because it became clear that there would be no more businesses coming to this tiny town given the distance between Seattle and Mountlake Terrace. In 1904, Mountlake Terrace had its first school which taught students grades 1-8. That same year, a telephone line was built to connect these fledgling communities together. After World War II ended, many young people decided to move back into Mtlake Terrace for a variety of reasons including better jobs or cheaper prices than elsewhere in King County. But as time passed and people started having children or growing old themselves, the number of residents decreased significantly until just over 2,000 people lived there as of 2010 Census data. Today much attention is paid to Mountlake Terrace's agricultural history due to the large amount of farm land that still remains within its boundaries providing opportunities for both commercial and subsistence farming activities such as hay production or apple growing; however some residents also engage in tourism related pursuits such as hiking or birding around Mount Lake Union National Park
