Mountlake Terrace, Washington is a small town located in King County, Washington. The population was 4,711 at the 2010 census. Mountlake Terrace is known for its luxury homes, golf courses and high school. The area around Mountlake Terrace also contains some of the best hunting and fishing in the state. The town has been inhabited by Native Americans for over a thousand years. In 1851, the Treaty of Bluff Creek was signed between the United States and the Yakima Nation. This treaty allowed United States settlers to settle in what is now Mountlake Terrace. After much debate, Congress passed an act on October 15th, 1853 that established Mountlake Terrace as a township and named it after General James Kapp (1786-1863), who had commanded Ulysses S. Grant’s army during the Mexican-American War

The name "Mountlake Terrace" comes from Mountlake Terrace Plantation on the shores of Lake Washington. In 1851, the landowner and investor James Kintyre sold his holdings to George Stephenson for $1 million. Stephenson renamed the estate Mountlake Place after himself and his family members – George Stephenson I, II (the father of Sir John Stephenson), Clarissa Bayley (later Clarissa Ward) and their children Beatrice and Alfred Vereker. At first, Mountlake Place was used as a country home by aristocrats such as Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert until they moved to Buckingham Palace in 1908. The original house still stands but has been extensively renovated over time into a luxury hotel called Swiss Cottage which opened in 1984. The current president of Starbucks Coffee & Tea Group Inc., Howard Schultz, purchased Swiss Cottage for $6 million in 2001 before moving into it full-time two years later when he became CEO of Starbucks Corporation It is also home to Mountlake Place Golf Club which features holes designed by Links International Golf Course architect Myron Thornberry with dimensions that are nearly indistinguishable from those at Pinehurst Resort & Spa - one reason why Pinehurst has been considered an up-and-coming golf destination for some time now mount lake terrace

The community began as a small cluster of log cabins on Lake Sammamish near present-day Mountlake Terrace Boulevard and Interstate 5 highway exit 127A in 1961 when developers purchase 4 miles (6 km) of land from the government for the purpose of developing a shopping center and office park. The original buildings were designed by landscape architects John Haglund and Clifford Burchardt and constructed between 1964 and 1966 with an estimated cost of $15 million dollars. The first grocery store opened in 1968 at what is now 1912 NE 206th Street; it still operates today as AmazonFresh out of two warehouses on SE 122nd Street which are also home to Safeway and Jamba Juice since 2009. In 1977, Microsoft purchased 1 mile (1.6 km) of land east of I-5 along First Avenue South for its Redmond campus; this tract became known as Campus Way after Microsoft's acquisition. The original building designed by Arthur Phillip Stanziani was dedicated in 1984 and contains various administrative offices such as corporate counsel, human resources, marketing research, product development etc.; it covers . Another building designed by Phillip Stanziani but not built until 1987 served as the company's first international headquarters outside North America with support facilities including customer service branches located throughout Europe/Middle East/Africa before that facility closed in 2000 accommodations being made for other entities such as Yahoo! Japan originally serving as their Headquarters before that facility closed too In later years additional supporting services were provided such email hosting accounts[2][3] while continuing to offer convenient walking distance access to all forms of transportations including mass transit connections with nearby Redmond International Airport through Redmond shuttle stop #4 on First Ave south across from Microsoft House although operations have been suspended during renovations currently ongoing[4][5] "Mountain view" refers to views looking down upon or toward Mt Rainier National Park from one's property or estate
The Mountlake Terrace area originated as part of the Seattle Territory, which was established in 1851. The land was first purchased by George Vancouver in 1853, and he built his home on the site. The town of Mountlake Terrace began to develop around this time, and a school, store, and church were erected. In 1878, the Territorial Legislature passed an act establishing King County. This created new boundaries for King County that included the entirety of Mountlake Terrace. The town continued to grow until it reached its current size in 1907.
