Mountlake Terrace is a small town in King County, Washington, located on the eastern edge of Seattle. The population was 7,907 at the 2010 census. Mountlake Terrace is one of the wealthiest towns in King County and has a strong economic development history. The name "Mountlake Terrace" was given to the area by Captain John Sellers during his 1827 trading expedition through what is now King County. At that time, he named the large body of water along Puget Sound after General George Vancouver's trip up that river several years earlier. In 1881, when Mountlake Terrace was incorporated as a village, it had a population of only 5 people. By 1910, its population had increased to over 10,000 people due to annexation of nearby neighborhoods such as Northgate and Bellingham. The first school in Mountlake Terrace opened in 1876. Even though it was built with just five students inside it, this school helped build important early foundation for Mtlake Terrace's future economy and culture. Today there are more than 350 elementary schools and secondary schools in MountLakeTerrace- making it one of the most diverse communities in King County. As an agricultural community founded on land reclamation from Lake Olympia (now called Union Bay), Mountlake Terrance played an important role in American agriculture throughout the 19th century; however its commercial success waned during World War I because so much of Seattle's output went abroad. In 1919-1920 however, local businessmen formed the Mt lake Heights Chamber of Commerce which became one of the largest civic organizations in Seattle spearheaded by Mayor Olive Stiles Lloyd before she ran for office later that year becoming first female mayor in city history After serving 2 terms as mayor from 1923 until her death suddenly at age 56 she bequeathed her entire fortune (then $100 million) to fund child poverty prevention programs allocating 50% towards girls & 75% towards boys beginning 1/1/2567 thru 3/15/1928 There has been no single cause or solution to ending child poverty throughout all these decades but many faces have participated including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella who stated “I am deeply interested [in] reducing rates kids experience” while attending TEDxSeattle some time ago On Friday October 15th 2020 @ 6pm we will be hosting our very own TEDx event here at Painted Lady Ballroom 1003 Third Ave S #09032 This event brings together world leaders & thinkers from business & government with ideas on how we can make change happen

Mountlake Terrace is a small town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,879 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first settlers to Mountlake Terrace were Emmett and Carrie Smith who arrived in 1885. The name "Mountlake Terrace" was given to the location by General George Armstrong Custer during his battle with Sioux Indians at Little Big Horn on July 12, 1876. In 1898, the Mountlake Terrace School District was formed and became one of the largest school districts in Washington state. In 1916, Mountlake Terrace Stadium was built for football games and it remains an enduring symbol of community pride today. In 1971, Mountlake Terrace voters passed a proposition to annex neighboring Unincorporated Puget Sound Naval Air Station (USNAF) into their town limits which effectively gave them control over all naval air activity within their boundaries- including exercisable rights to use Navy aircraft carriers and other vessels afloat or ashore for public use throughout Puget Sound Naval Station's harbor areas- as well as exclusive access to all USNAF property located within their boundaries both before and after annexation. The annexed property totals some 7 square miles (18 km2). Today there are numerous USS Nimitz replacement hangars scattered around both installations providing housing for ground crew servicing Nimitz submarines while they are being prepared for launching; these have generated much local protest from those opposed to high-level naval exercises taking place inside Puget Sound Naval Station's airspace without appropriate permission or notification! Finally in early 2006 USNAF towed out an HC-130J Hercules worth $185 million from Clark AFB near Angeles National Forest in Nevada towards its new home at NAS Whidbey Island just offshore of Port Orchard on Orcas Island...just weeks after I had written about this project ! This event has generated more local media attention than any other recent development at NAS Whidbey Island ; in fact some people feel it has finally broken through the lid on what many people see as a secret military installation !
