The Mountlake Terrace gun lock company was founded in 1892. The first guns they produced were pistols. Over the years, they production grew and they began making rifles and shotguns as well. In 1936, their company merged with the nearby Chinook Arms Company to become Mountlake Terrace Armory.
Mountlake Terrace is a census-designated place in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Mountlake Terrace contains a high school and a small shopping center. It is located on the eastern border of Seattle. The first people to live in what is now Mountlake Terrace were Native Americans who roamed the area before contact with Europeans began. In 1853, settlers arrived from Puget Sound and founded the town of Auburn on land that was then part of Mountlake Terrace. The town had two stores and four homes. The first post office opened in 1855, and soon there were five businesses in Mountlake Terrace: blacksmith shop, bakery, grocery store, livery stable, and sawmill. In 1861, when King County was created from parts of Snohomish County, Mountlake Terrace became part of it as well. At that time there were only ten residents in Mountlake Terrace; by 1870 there were over one hundred residents living there. By 1900 the population had increased to 2,100 people; however by 1910 it had decreased to 1,851 people due to various factors such as World War I and Japanese internment during World War II. In 1961–1962 an interchange near Interstate 5 took place at milepost 252 (now milepost 262) on Highway 99 between MtLake Tract No 8 north of Tacoma and MtLake Tract No 11 south of Olympia; this highway formed what is now called "Highway 99/Mt Lake Tract" because it connected those two tracts together across Lake Washington which then divided into three roads: State Route 9 north of Tacoma became US Routes 9W (the present day SR 96), 101 east of Olympia became SR 101W (the present day WA 98), while US Route 5E (now I-5) remained unchanged until its merger with I-5 within Seattle in 1971 to create Waveline Boulevard). It wasn't until 1969 that SR 9 turned onto its current routing via Maple Avenue northeast (then MLK Jr.) from SR 101W just north of downtown Everett; this made Wayland Road necessary for access to freeway exit ramps from I-5 southward into Downtown Seattle proper through portions including Pioneer Square whereuponSR 9 rejoined mainline state route 10 about ½ mile east from today's Pine Street NE corner inside today's First Hill neighborhood before continuing southeast past SLU University Campus along Hoyt Road NW before turning onto Maple Avenue east just past NE 65th Place SW corner inside today's North Central neighborhood before rejoining mainline state route 10 southeast just past NE 67th Place SW corner inside today's East Central Neighborhoods neighborhood following waymarking established by predecessor highways earliest being Highways 401 & 402 running concurrent hereabouts concurrent with each other hereabout back around 1920 prior eventually becoming MMH & SHR later diverging southwesterly hereabout concurrently thru Monroe Park Rd ending near current day Anacapa Island Lighthouse

Mountlake Terrace is a small town located in King County, Washington. The community was founded in 1859 by John A. Macdonald and his family as a subscription township from land grant given to the village of Lakewood by George Vancouver. The first settlers were immigrants from Ontario, Canada. The community became an incorporated municipality in 1907, when it merged with the neighboring village of Redmond. Mountlake Terrace is now a census-designated place (CDP) with a population of 971 as of the 2010 census. It has been home to many prominent people in local and national life, including Ulysses S. Grant and Helen Keller. The original Mountlake Terrace post office was established on July 1, 1859, and remained in operation until December 15, 1861; its last letter was sent on November 25th that year. At that time, Everett had become the new capital of King County after Seattle was annexed by the county on January 3rd of that year. The Mountlake Terrace post office continued to function until it closed on October 26th of that year due to increasing competition from Everett's new post office at Union Station which opened two weeks later. In 1907, both towns amalgamated into one municipality under the name Mountlake Terrace & Redmond CDP until 1975 when it reverted back to its pre-1907 form as Mountlake Terrice CDP
Mountlake Terrace was founded in 1881 by John D. Rockefeller and his wife, Mary Jane. The area now includes the neighborhoods of Mountlake Terrace, Highland Park, and Mercer Island. Much of the early development took place on the west side of Lake Washington, which is now part of Seattle.
