Mountlake Terrace is located in King County, Washington and is home to the Mountlake Terrace Gun Club. The gun club was founded on Valentine's Day in 1892. The Mountlake Terrace Rifle and Pistol Club was chartered in 1907. In 1911, the Mountlake Terrice Rifle and Pistol Club was chartered. In 1916, the King County Sheriff's Office introduced a percussion cap revolver into the Mountlake Terrace area after seeing it used on warships off of Tacoma, Washington. The first firearm to be shot at an American Revolution battlefield was a carbine fired by Captain Samuel Chase from his house near present-day NE 48th Street and 1st Avenue in 1775. In 1924, a $10,000 grant from James Fenton allowed for the construction of a rifle range between SE 10th Avenue and SE 12th Avenue. The range became operational on October 1, 1925 and successful proved that rifle shooting could take place at high levels without exposing participants to danger from stray bullets or accidents while practicing target shooting with live ammunition. The first assault rifles were designed/manufactured by John Melson at his gunsmith shop across NW 24th Street from Seattle University’s Polytechnic campus during World War I (1914-1918). These rifles were chambered for 5mm Parabellum rounds which limited their practicality for military use but they did serve as inspiration for later Assault Weapons Development programs run by NFA under Project 1920 . . . these firearms births are often considered important turning points in handgun history

The Mountlake Terrace name may be derived from the geography of the community: it is on an elevated plateau overlooking Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Mountlake Terrace also has a strong history as an agricultural center with many small farms that are still in operation today. The first people to live in what is now Mountlake Terrace were a group of Native Americans who called themselves the Nisqually tribe. They lived there for centuries before moving south to what is now Tacoma and then east to Olympia after their land became available for farming. The first European settlers arrived in 1851 when George Vancouver explored what is now King County and decided to settle some land near present-day Mountlake Terrace because he thought it would be easier to trade with the natives than trying to find a permanent home for himself and his men on mountains that were difficult to climb or navigate. A post office was established at Mountlake Terrace in 1865, and by 1870 it had become one of the most important towns within King County. In 1907, Boeing & Spalding founded Boeing Aircraft Company in nearby Issaquah, which led to increased economic development around Mountlake Terrice

Captain John Husband explored the area in 1607 and named it after King George II of England. The first permanent settler on the mountain was David Thompson, who arrived in 1792. The town of Mountlake Terrace was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1854 and became a part of Seattle.
