Mount Vernon is a historic home located at Mount Vernon, Fairfax County, Virginia. It was built in 1789, and is a two-story, six bay, Ionic Revival style frame building with a large one story wing. This additional land included what is now part of Mount Vernon Estate itself as well as much adjoining rural territory including Petersburg Chapel Plantation adjacent southeast on Old North Road now called Eastern Drive just south of modern day Indian Hill Road). The park service took possession of Mount Vernon on October 1st, 1966 following national Hurricane Isaac's destructive rampage across much Virginias central region; however since then little has changed about its physical form or function apart from occasional maintenance/Repairs overseen by volunteers most recently during winter months when access is typically prohibited due to weather conditions such as ice & snow accumulation inside buildings) . From its inception member nations have held meetings here amidst solemn proceedings surrounding international diplomacy thereby enshrining this historically significant site into international law & culture thus enhancing public perceptions around world events affecting our planet both domestically & internationally

Additional notable holdings include furniture from England's Mayfair Mansion (including porcelain from THOMAS CHAMBERS), lace from China's Zouaves Regiment Battalion stationed at Fort DuPont (now Arlington County), weapons from Revolutionary War battles such as Yorktown and Saratoga Springs familiar to Americans living today such as cannons captured at Camden Ferry; models made by amateur railroad engineers; coins from every state in America; prints attributed to Jefferson or others;and nearly 2 million pieces overall dating back to George Washington's lifetime!
The first white American settler in Mount Vernon was John Adams, who arrived in 1791. He and his family were the first to live on the property that is now Mount Vernon. The first house on the farm was built by John Adams in 1792. The home still stands and is open to the public today. Adams was a member of the First Congress and served as the President of United States from 1801-1809.
