Moses Lake is a small community located in the Spokane Valley of Washington, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Moses Lake is bordered by the towns of Stevens City and Maple Creek to the east and north, both of which are served by the Stevens City School District; by Clallam County to the west, which includes part of what used to be known as Moses Lake; and by Canada National Forest to the south. The name Moses Lake may come from an Ottawa Indian word meaning "the great water" or "lake of God." The name was given to the community by George Bird Griggs after he donated land for its development in 1913. Griggs had been instrumental in helping create Spokane Valley when he served as its first mayor. He also established several businesses in Moses Lake including a flour mill and grocery store. Today, many people in Moses Lake participate in various aspects of local life such as agriculture, fishing, hunting, forestry, brewing beer and playing golf. Moses Lake is located on streams that originate near Mount Rainier National Park: Clearwater Creek flows into Clearwater River from west side of town; East Fork White Salmon River flows into Snake River northeast of town; West Fork White Salmon River flows into Deschutes River northwest of town. These three rivers provide most all their drinking water for residents and businesses within 2 miles (3 km). Additionally there are several small reservoirs within walking distance providing additional supplies should necessary during drought years or if tap water becomes scarce elsewhere.USGS 2004 According to the USGS website , between 1910-2010 Moses Lakes population ranged from 1,491 to 1,812 with a median age of 50 years old (based on 2000 Census data). This growth rate was primarily due to increases in farming activity due to increased access to irrigation systems while remaining stable during periods when housing values were lower or declined.USGS 2004. During this time frame there were also modest gains (+5%) reported for manufacturing employment although these numbers could not be confirmed[www2/gsfc/products/moses-lake-washington">. In recent decades however Masons have become more diverse with about 41% Caucasian followed closely by 33% American Indian (<10% respectively) making up almost half (53%).
In addition about 18% Asians make up 3%, 4% multiracial individuals make up 6%, 5% African Americans make up 1%. Median household income ranges from $75k-$120k while nearly half (45%) live below poverty lines (<$30k).

The history of Moses Lake begins with its founding by white settlers in 1859. One such settler was John Purdy who arrived at MosesLake Inlet on July 12th,1859. He named his new settlement after his brother, Mose who had come over earlier that year for similar purposes including land speculation and farming around present-day Moses Lake Inlet. By 1863, most of what is now known as Moses lake had been surveyed and platted by James Kapp (of Kapp & Sons Land Surveyors). A post office was established at this location on November 3rd, 1863 which served only residents living within easy walking distance until it was discontinued on October 1st 1870 due to low mail volume compared to other nearby communities such as Yakima or Wenatchee Falls; however, it continued operation until 1915 when all local mail stopped being delivered due to changes in postal service regulations affecting rural areas at that time In 1902, part of present day Wenatchee Valley were purchased by Jeptha Bigham for $10 000 cash which included 6 miles (10 km) east of where today's downtown sits; this purchase created what would become known as "The Gables". Upon completion OFW Lumber Company sawmill #1 opened operations in 1904 having an annual capacity capable outputing 2 million board feet (610 m2) per year Downtown MosesLake became fully developed starting with construction beginning on December 3rd 1905 when WSSL began construction on Main Street between First Avenue Sqn & Second Ave Sqn This project included replacement/addition/remodeling all existing buildings within downtown including introduction Of electric streetlights throughout entire city making it one continuous facility without discontinuing service even though separate facilities existed until 1915 . After over 40 years since its original opening WSSL closed their doors effective January 15th 1975 following decades long struggle against multiple attempts by private interests to wrest control away from City government Today much remains unchanged although some streets have been renamed while others have experienced little change since their original designation including Main Street which still operates commercially despite no longer serving as Downtown Streets Department property
