In 1912, the Central Pacific Railroad built a line from Everett to Moses Lake, which connected with the Union Pacific Railway at North Bend. This increased trade between Moses Lake and North Bend and led to an increase in population to 1,700 by 1916. In 1945, when World War II began, America's first atomic bomb was detonated over Hiroshima; Japan responded with an atomic bombing of Tokyo that year that destroyed much of downtown Hiroshima including what is now known as "The Dome." The resulting damage forced many people out of their homes and caused businesses to close within days or weeks. For several years thereafter there wasn't enough water available for irrigation so crops became unproductive; however some residents managed to extract salt from nearby lakes for use as fertilizer . After years of research by local scientists culminating with construction of a major dam on the Yakima River in 1958-1959 which diverted river flow towards Moses Lake making more available surface water for irrigation purposes – this finally solved the issue once and for all! Today’s population stands at 1,544 people who are made up largely from either rural families who have been farming here since before white settlement arrived or recent immigrants who have come during various waves throughout history such as Koreans during World War II followed by Vietnam War refugees during the 1970somethings etc., while also maintaining strong ties through family histories with neighboring communities like North Bend/Moseslake/Everett etc., basketball being one popular pastime enjoyed mainly outdoors among locals & visitors alike!
