Moses Lake has a rich history with firearms. The area was first settled by the indigenous people, the Kootenai nation, in the late 1800s. In 1854, Moses Lake became a town and was named for General George Kittredge Moses, who had served in the Union Army during the Civil War. The town grew rapidly and by 1870 it had over fifteen thousand residents. Gun barrels were manufactured in Moses Lake from 1875 to 1880. At that time, gun barrels were made of brass and housed in large vaults beneath local businesses. The growth of gun barrel production led to an increase in noise levels and eventually lead to injuries and fatalities among workers. In 1886, violence erupted between workers and shopkeepers over pay issues at a nearby factory. Three men died as a result of the dispute; one was shot dead while trying to escape from work, another was killed when he denounced the violence, and the third died after being crushed beneath a stack of barrels himself. This event ushered in a period of stability for Moses Lake but also caused lasting damage to its economy due to crashes in both manufacturing industries and residential real estate prices. Moses Lake is located on the north bank of the Snake River and surrounded by rural areas to the south and east. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first white man to visit Moses Lake was George Vancouver in 1792 and he named it after Mount Sinai in Israel. Moses Lake became a town in 1847 and then an agricultural village until it became an industrial center with production of munitions during World War II. After that time, manufacturing declined as new technology took over, but development has resumed since 2000 with attractions such as camping, boating, fishing, golfing and shopping among its many amenities. Moses Lake has been home to Native Americans for more than 10,000 years; some groups have lived here permanently while others have moved seasonally or intermittently over time. In 1855 territorial Governor Isaac Stevens designated land around Moses Lake as part of what would become Snohomish County. The name "Moses" came from local pioneer Jacob Morse who built a cabin on the site in 1857-58 and named it for his brother-in-law Elijah Howe (1784–1853), who had founded Penobscot Bay Colony near Olympia shortly beforehand. In 1905Snohomish County annexed parts of King County which made up eastern Pierce County so that all county residents were combined into one municipality with a single courthouse location on Main Street in MosesLake proper; this coincided with growing suburban development within walking distance of downtown's shops and services beginning to take off (the city's growth followed soon thereafter). By 1910 there were over 100 businesses operating out of Downtown MosesLake while appellations like "Wah Wah", "The Junction", "The Lakeshore" etc., designate neighborhoods adjacent thereto still extant today: these days they are generally referred to simply as East Side or West Side neighborhoods depending upon their location withinMROSESLAKEWashingtonDowntown

Moses Lake is a city in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 12,826 at the 2010 census. Moses Lake is one of the most populous cities in Clark County and fifth largest city in Washtenaw County. It is part of the Lansing–Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area. Moses Lake was founded on July 24, 1884 by George Custer and his men from Fort Benton as a campsite for their horses on the north shore of Moses Lake. The first community in what would become Moses Lake was called North Bend, but when it became too small to support a town, its residents established themselves at East Beach on the south side of the lake in 1887. In 1888 they renamed it after General Joseph Mosely who had fought in Mexico during the Mexican-American War and then served as governor of Michigan Territory before becoming general at Fort Reuben under Ulysses S. Grant during World War I. When General Mosely died suddenly while on a military campaign near Osoyoos, Washington some years later, his family donated land to create what would become Moses Lake. Today's downtown area surrounds Puget Sound Naval Shipyard which helped make possible development around present day John Day Boulevard and other streets near Tacoma Narrows Bridge where Puget Sound vessels dock for repairs or arrives for sea travel. Moses Lake has always been an important center for trade with its access to both Puget Sound and larger lakes nearby including Maple Falls (later named Nelson), South Fork (later renamed Whitefish), Thurston Creek (later renamed Lewiston) and finally Muskegon Bay which used to be crossed by ferries from Olympia until 1903 when it was relocated to its present location upstream along State Route 97 followingthe discovery of oil resources there
