Moses Lake is a small town in Washington County, located about 20 miles east of Seattle. The population was 2,004 at the 2010 census. Moses Lake had a civilian militia and rifle club called the "Citizens' Militia" from 1892 to 1898. In 1912, the Citizens' Militia disbanded when it was discovered that some of its members were involved in bribery and other irregularities with local government contracts. The first firearms manufacturer in Moses Lake was E.F. Bennet & Sons who manufactured rifles and shotguns beginning in 1887. From 1896 to 1903, H L Farnsworth produced handguns also in Moses Lake. Other manufacturers active during this time include FERC (1898-1902), J C Thompson Arms Company (1899-1906), W M Norris Firearms Company (1900-1910), P W Stephenson Arms Company (1895-1900), A B Lamb Guns Manufacturing Company (1893-1994). In 1922, the Ithaca Gun factory opened up shop in Moses Lake and soon became known as one of America's leading handgunrunners manufacturing pistols and revolvers under various brand names including Colt Python (.32ACP) .357 Magnum/6shot revolver, Remington RP 9mm/.45ACP pistol, Smith & Wesson Model 41 Pistol calibers 9mm Luger/.40 S&W Super Hornet and .45 ACP for police use only; Ruger American FBI/Marshal model single action revolver; Kimber Custom shop Commander Custom 1911 pistol; Colt 45ACP[=9mm=] automatic pistols were also produced by Ithaca Gun Factory.[1] The gun industry underwent dramatic changes during World War II with mass production of weapons such as the Jeep able to be turned out quickly at great scale across all weapon types including handguns which became an important part of military arsenals across North America Orion Defense Inc., majority owner since 1978 has been Cerberus Capital Management LLC., significant contributions have come from arms dealer Kingman Firearms Corporation ownership interests along with related companies Austrailian Industries Limited Partnership account currently holds approximately 49% interest History: In 1938–1945 Austria joined Nazi Germany while Czechoslovakia continued to exist under Communist rule until 1948 when they too lost their independence following a communist revolution
