Marysville is a small town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,619 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-East Wenatchee area. The community was founded in 1892 by Wm. Fenton and his wife Jennie Kapp as a small farming town on the east side of the Cascades National Park. In 1902, Marysville became an incorporated village under the name "New Marysville". The name was changed to its present spelling in 1968 when it annexed part of the neighboring village of East Wenatchee. According to federal censuses from 1880 through 1990, Marysville had a total population of 1,715: 831 men, 522 women; 1 black person; and 21 white people. In 2000 there were 2,619 people living in Marysville: 611 men (71%), 514 women (27%); 3 black people (1%). With growth come austerity measures that have forced many residents out of their homes and into poverty and crime rates that have topped 100%. Aspen Mining Company operated a gold mine near Marysville until 1951 when it closed down due to low gold prices and competition from other mines operations in the area. Today there are only traces of ore left exposed above ground where mining took place over one hundred years ago including artifacts such as pick axes found at surface locations within three feet depth around old workings sites now closed to visitors due to concerns about health hazards from asbestos exposure following contact with ancient copper coins still unearthed nearby!

In 1827, Marysville became the capital of Washington Territory. The city experienced a rapid growth during the late 19th century as a center for education and industry. By 1907, Marysville had reached its peak in population with over 22,000 residents. However, during World War I the city saw significant destruction due to enemy fire. After the war, local businesses struggled to compete with larger counterparts outside of Washington Territory. In 1930, Marysville lost its status as capital and merged with nearby Spokane to form the current metropolitan area.
