In 1836 voters voted to change the name to Seattle but this proposal was not ratified by Congress soSeattle remained unincorporated until 1949 when it incorporated as a city under an act passed by Congress with help from Mayor Albert Einstein

In 1865, a sawmill was established in the town, and a flour mill followed in 1876. A cotton gin was also erected in Marysville in 1901. In 1907, the railroad arrived to Marysville, and a new flour mill became operational that year. The town's population grew rapidly during the 20th century, reaching its peak of over 100 residents in 1940. However, due to economic factors such as World War II and later recession, Marysville's population began to decline during the 1960s and 1970s. Today, only a few individuals remain within thetown limits
