By 1960, only about 60%of original white settlers remained within present-day Marysville Township while almost all African Americans had left or been pushed out since 1860; only one black family lived remaining within Present-day Pioneer Square until 1964 when they moved into an all white neighborhood southwest of town center. In recent years a few middle class Chinese immigrants have settled near downtown; however no cultural events are currently taking place here apart from occasional potluck dinners for local friends/.
