This led to large numbers of African Americans moving into Marysville over time; by 1905, 61% of its population was black compared to just 2% for all of Thurston County combined. During World War II much activity took place in and around Marysville thanks to government contracts which drove down prices for goods needed by soldiers on battlefields all over America including Great Britain where troops also fought during that conflict; this influenced local businesses who exported items such as gasoline and ammunition used on battlefields throughout Europe back home.
