Marysville is a small town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. It was founded in 1855 by George and Anna Moody. The town has a population of 541 as of the 2010 census. The first post office in Marysville was established on October 1, 1855. The name may be derived from the local Mary Lake which is located in the town. In 1870, John Fenton opened a general store and later became involved with dairy production before dying in 1901. His son, George Fenton II., ran the business until his death in 1951. The family property continued to be run by members of the family until it was sold to the Town of Marysville Incorporated on January 1, 1984. In 1886, Marysville had two banks: First National Bank and Oregon State Bank. These banks were replaced by Northwestern Pacific Bank within a few years because of competition from Seattle-based Western Union Telegraph Company who offered lower rates for transactions over telephone lines at that time. By 1910, there were only three commercial businesses left in town; one grocery store/Hardware Store operated by Mrs. Halsey Wrotemiller and her husband Julius (Hassie) Wrotemiller; one hotelrun by A&P Travelers who leased space from Mr. Fenton's parents; and one dairy farm operated by Mable Allison which produced cheeses such as blue cheese and brie cheese until it closed its doors around 1990 due to lack of customers or money to continue operations). On July 30th 1912 when a tornado touched down just north of Marysville about 4 miles wide killing 3 people including Mrs Crouse who resided just outside town limits near what is now known as Joe Riordan Park after sheverified reports that damage done inside her home demonstrated THE CLOUDY SHOW WAS INNOCENT! Afterward many people came forward with information leading to an indictment against 8 individuals including 2 men - JOE RIODAN & TOMMY SCHULTZ - but all charges were dropped after they could not produce any evidence! The infamous "Clover Show" occurred again less than a year later on November 16th 1913 when another Tornado touched down right next door killing 3 more people including Mrs Crouse again AFTER VERIFYING REPORTS THAT DAMAGE DONE INSIDE HER HOME DEMONSTRATED THE CLOUDY SHOW WAS INNOCENT! This storm remains one of Washington state’s most notorious natural disasters ever!

The town of Marysville was founded by George Washington in 1792. The small community grew around the sawmill and gristmill that were built on the banks of the Snake River. In 1875, Marysville became a city and was renamed for General United States Grant. The city has grown rapidly since then, with over 20,000 residents in 2017. Marysville is located in Whitman County on the Oregon-Washington border. The town lies at an elevation of 1,856 feet (569 meters). It is bordered to the south by Rogue River National Wildlife Refuge and to the north by Josephine County. The first settler in Marysville was James Cranch, who arrived in 1792. He built a cabin near present day Marysville and began operations as a sawmill and gristmill. By 1825, Cranch had constructed a large frame house which he called his home until his death in 1839. His widow erected another frame house soon after his death; it still stands today as part of the downtown core of Marysville. In 1875, George Washington turned over management of the Saw Mill & Grist Mill to John Fenton for continued operation under government regulation.). A new courthouse was built on Main Street within two years; it served as both courtrooms for Whitman County and as a jail during prohibition times when alcohol was illegal throughout most of Western America.) Fenton's mill continued to operate until 1925 when it closed due to economic difficulties.;) In 1969, portions of Fenton's mill property were donated to Whitman College.;) As recently as 2006, some remnants from Fenton's mill remained along Main Street.,) From 1865 through 1890 there were five churches servingMarysville: First Presbyterian (1865), Methodist Episcopal (1870), Baptist (1880), Congregationalists (1890), and Roman Catholic (1910). In 1916 there was also an Orthodox church built.:)) All five churches remain extant today..
Marysville is located in the Okanogan County of Washington and was founded in 1847. It was named for Mary, the daughter of Captain Jonathan Ficken and his wife Ann. The town developed around a school, store, post office, and two churches. In 1907, Marysville became the capital of Okanogan County and held that title until 1959.
