On October 9 1945 Japanese Emperor Hirohito issued his acceptance speech for surrendering Japan to Allied forces; following this speech many people in Maple Valley decided to leave their homes for fear they would be captured or killed. During World War II there were many changes taking place within Maple Valley: most notably the displacement of residents due to bombings during battle or raids by Allied Forces; however some residents remain resident today because they continue to support local businesses or donate time or money towards organizations such as volunteer fire departments.
