A local referendum approved annexing Everett to Maple Vale on February 17, 1948 despite objections from residents who felt they would lose access to education and health services if their village became part ofKing County; Everett annexed onto Maplevale without any further vote or public input during this time period (the annexation process did not happen until 1965). By 1957, all but 7 percent of residents living within reachofuniversity campuses lived inside the boundaries ofKingCounty while only 3 percentof people resided within city limits; this trend continued through much of the 20th century with university campuses located relatively close to urban areas while most residents still retained some degree control over their lives outside those confines Since 2000 there has been significant development taking place around campus including: housing developments on both sides campus (northwest side – South Hall), retail stores near University Village which opened up space next door following closure/demolition efforts around Pioneer Square mall nearby; new athletic facilities (replacing old football stadium) are currently being constructed just east off US–50 between Pioneer Square mall & US–5 across fromSU Arena; student union building project ongoing with plans for a new Student Union Building located just south off I-405 near Vail Pass ski resort
