Maple Valley is a small town in the Kalumet River valley of central Washington. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yakima County, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community began as a farming village in 1855 on the east side of the Kalumet River. The name Maple Valley was chosen by George Custer for his ranching and wire-frame house near present day Cheney. In 1870, maple sugar beets were introduced to Maple Valley from Canada and quickly became an important industry. A mill was built in 1875, and continued operations until 1915 when it burned down due to weather conditions. After World War II, many farmers left Maple Valley for larger towns in centralWashington or elsewhere in the state; however, some continue to live there today. A post office operated at Maple Valley from 1855 to 1910; after that it was located at Three Lakes (now Auburn). The first settlers arrived during the gold rush days and named their new community "Dalmy". After a fire destroyed their original home in 1861 they moved to what is now west side of town where they built a log cabin withstood wind blown snowdrifts for years before being replaced by a more permanent structure around 1880 which still stands today: "the old sawmill". In 1865 John Dyer founded Dyer Lumber Co., one of only two logging companies operating west of Seattle then; his logs are still seen along much of coast-to-coast western Washington logging road running through Mapleville/Dutchman City today. During prohibition era Dyer Logs manufactured beer for local breweries including Duwamish and Olympia Beer Works & Distillery inside Dutchman City's old brewery building (now part of Everett Community College). Northwest lumberjack Bertram Ramsey ran an open air woodchuck hunting camp next door on private property adjacent to current day Fourth Street while he hunted chukar antlers between Milwaukie Junction southbound on Interstate 5 towards Puget Sound northwestward past Dutchman City into Thurston County during early 1900s; finally making it all the way back up I-5 just past Denmark overpass just north of present day Auburn before stopping again about 10 miles south at present day Kelso AFB northbound on I-405) until coming ashore near Aberdeen Island late afternoon Jan 2nd 1907 yanking excess nest material overboard leaving behind 6 mature chukars totaling 8’2″ long! Maple Valley is a small town in the state of Washington, located in the Yakima Valley. The population was 2,814 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Bellevue-Everett Metropolitan Area and it falls within the unincorporated community of Maple Valley Township. The first settler in Maple Valley was John Pritchard, who arrived in 1847. He built a log cabin on his farmstead which still stands today. In 1850, Alfred Waddell also settled in Maple Valley and he started to grow crops and raised livestock. By 1860, there were 10 families living in Maple Valley. On October 12, 1861, George Hargrave founded Hargrave & Company millinery store in Maple Valley with $5000 worth of supplies and equipment from London. The store became one of the largest clothing stores in Seattle after opening its doors on May 6, 1865. In 1892, JF Fuller (1857-1925) bought land near where he now lives and began to build a house that would become known as "The Fuller House". The first flooring was completed by 1896 and when it opened for business, it was one of the most popular places to buy groceries in Seattle because it had an excellent selection of fresh produce from local farmers. In 1907-08 alone, Fuller sold over $1 million worth of groceries! This store closed its doors on December 31st 2008 but reopened as "Grocery Outlet" on April 1st 2009 until its closure again on July 14th 2013 due to economic downturns throughout Northwest USA The last owner of "Grocery Outlet" before its closure was Lacey & Sons who ran it until their retirement on July 14th 2013; however they continue to maintain some assets within their building such as an inventory room which is open every day during normal business hours for customers who want to view what goods are available inside Maple valley residents have long enjoyed friendly competition between each other for bragging rights when referring to their hometown's best features or history - many people know about all ten streets that run through town! One such tradition is called 'the MapleValley race'. This race takes place annually during Homecoming Weekend at various locations around town: typically Sunday evening prior to game time (e.g., Community Park), with competitors racing down each street while singing 'welcome back home' songs
