In 1907, two brothers, George and John W. Weiser, started a munitions business in Maple Valley. They began making shells and pistols with leadshot and cast-iron bullets. The business grew quickly and they soon produced ammunition for both the military and civilian markets. In 1916, the Weisers merged their businesses with that of their father, Augustus W. Weiser. This merger led to the establishment of the Weiser Ammunition Company, which continued to produce high-quality ammunition products until1998. At its peak in 1918, the company had a workforce of over 200 individuals. During World War II, the Weiser Ammunition Company became one of Washington's leading producers of artillery rounds and mortar projectiles. In addition to producing thousands of rounds per day for American forces in Europe and North Africa, the company also produced rounds for British forces during Operation Overlord. In 1945, after the war ended, the company exported its products to many other countries including Argentina, Chile, China (during 1949-1958), Cuba (1959-1966), Yugoslavia (1967-1978), Romania (1989-1990), Bulgaria (1991-1992) and Spain (1994). The company was purchased by NCR Corporation in 1998; however production continued at a limited level until 2002 when it ceased completely due to economic reasons. Today only a small quantity of ammunition is still made by hand at an old manufacturing plant in Maple Valley

Today, many different cultures are represented within Maple Valley including American Indian (the Nisqually people), Asian (the Koreans who came before World War II), European (Dutch/British/Irish settlers), Australian Aboriginal (First Nations people), and Pacific Islander (Samoan Islanders) populations which all share common ancestry but unique experiences as well as cultural influences over time.

In 1909, the City of Bellevue incorporated as a city with a population of 25 people. By 1912, it had grown to 100 people; by 1916 it had reached 200 people; and by 1924 it had reached 300 people. In 1959, Bellevue-Athletic merged with Maple Valley to create one municipality with a population of 1,711 residents. Today, many businesses are located within the boundaries of Maple Valley including restaurants such as Starbucks and Panera Bread; retailers such as Safeway and Target; transportation services such as Uber and Lyft; and government agencies like the King County Sheriff's Office and Public Health Department
