In 1874, he patented a parcel of land that would become Lynndale Park— lands which still comprise much of downtown today. In 1887, Drury brothers erected the first waterworks system in Seattle and founded what would become Seattle Water company Limited; their company continued until 1919 when it merged withSeattle Municipal Utilities (SUM). Sumner Gardner bought out Drury Brothers' shares in Seattle Water company Limited in 1923 and ran it as his own private water systems monopoly until annexation by King County following World War II. As WA centralized many services under one roof during World Wars I-IV due to dwindling natural resources (water availability), Lynnwood experienced rapid growth through annexations from neighboring cities such as Bellevue and Kirkland followed by service expansions into new suburban areas like Kirkland Lake and Bothell during these years; this led to increased competition for limited resources leading to large infrastructure deficits starting with World War II when potable water became increasingly scarce because of increasing demand statewide from agencies such as Social Security Administration (SSA) but also newly formed industries like Boeing munitions plants that required large quantities of potable water for cooling purposes only after WWII ended - leaving cities like Tacoma with little choice but to build desalination plants or other forms of external pipework into their watersheds simply because there was no more groundwater available outside city limits! As a result most major arterial streets are now named after rivers or lakes rather than people or businesses – an unusual naming tradition among U S cities! However despite all this competition over limited resources over time Lynnwood has managed to maintain its overall high degree of social cohesion despite experiencing some high levels of economic inequality between rich and poor residents throughout its history; something often noted within communities across America where disparities continue even 50+ years after gentrification!

It was founded in 1879 by farmers from British Columbia who came to America on the ship "Discovery" and named it after their home town of Lynn, England. The city's first post office opened in 1881. In 1912, Lynnwood became an incorporated village with a population of just under 2,000 people. During World War II, the city became one of the largest trucking and transportation hub cities in North America due to its location near Boeing plants and other key industries. In recent years, Lynnwood has made strides as an educational and economic center for eastern King County with concentrations of universities such as Western Washington University (WSU), Pierce College (Pierce University), James Madison University (JMU), Seattle Community Colleges (SCC), Northwest Nazarene University (NWNU) and Evergreen State College (ESC). The Lynnwood High School football team won consecutive state championships from 1978–1981; they are currently coached by Dave Christensen with current coach Jerry Kill having been interim head coach since December 2017
