Polk (1846-1925), the first president totalitarianism in the United States On November 8, 1915 voters approved proposition 2 which provided for annexation by Bellevue and then Everett Cityhood; this became effective on January 1, 1916 when Bellevue annexed Lynnwood without any vote by the town's citizens In 1924 Voters passed proposition 3 giving voting rights to women over 25 years old and increasing the number of inhabitants from 12 to 16; this became effective on January 1st, 1925 thanks to WISE (Women’s Independent School District) v Des Moines In 1959 Voters passed proposition 5 legalizing gambling with a $5 million bond issue being issued that raised $21 million dollars In 1966 Voters passed proposition 6 which granted voting rights to Native Americans living within Indian Country ; this became effective onJanuary 1st 1967
