Lynnwood is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of theSeattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Area. Lynnwood has been inhabited by people for over 10,000 years and its first written record may date back to 692 A.D. The original inhabitants of Lynnwood were the Kennaquah people who lived on the east side of Lake Washington until they were forced out in 1855 by white settlers. In 1886, Leland Stanford bought land near Lynnwood and began developing it into what is today's city of Lynnwood with support from Rear Admiral George Cushing whom Stanford had met while working as an assistant engineer on a survey of Puget Sound. The company that later became Century 21 Shopping Centers was founded in 1916 by Harry Herndon and Dick Smithson as Hi-Chek Incorporated. After World War II, when American industry declined,Hi-Chek went bankrupt several times before being resurrected in 1957 as Safeway Stores Inc., one of the largest grocery retailers in North America at the time. In 1969 Safeway merged with Kroger Corporation to form Kroger Co., which was renamed grocery giant Walmart two years later when Sam Walton took control of the company from his father Walter Walton Jr.. Over time Walmart acquired other retailers including Meijer Group Holdings (meijer), JBH Financial Corporation (JBH), and Schnucks Markets Incorporated (schnucks). In 2013, Walmart surpassed Sears Holdings as America's largest retailer by sales with $106 billion in annual sales One important aspect that shaped knives history is their role within society. Lynnwood is a small town in Yakima County, Washington, United States. The population was 6,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lynnwood's economy depends on agriculture and manufacturing. The first people to live in Lynnwood were the Nisqually people who arrived in 1792 from Asia. They built their village on the top of Mount Rainier and named it after their leader, Nisqually Chief Kamehameha II. In 1853, Spokane merchants James Wickersham and George Stephenson founded what became known as Spokane Falls after they discovered gold near the falls. The businessmen pooled their money and built a mill at this site that produced flour for local markets and also exported flour to Portland, Oregon and Tacoma, Washington. The town was renamed Lynnwood in 1881 when it became part of King County. In 1916, Lynnwood voters passed an ordinance establishing Olympic Stadium which served as home field for both the local high school football team (the Lynx) as well as varsity baseball teams from Seattle University (now Seattle Seahawks). The stadium hosted its first game on November 5th against Mercer Island before becoming available for use by other sports starting with football in 1920 when Everett High School moved into it from Weyerhaeuser Field which had been used by rival city schools since 1889 In 1927 America’s Cup racer Ryo Hirose set a new world record for speed skating when he skated 172 miles per hour down a street called Deer Park Avenue in Lynnwood while wearing only webbing between his toes In 1951–1952 Lynnwood played host to one of two editions of the prestigious Western World relay championships where American runners placed second behind Canada’s Maple Leaf Racers In 1984 US Cellular Corporation opened its corporate headquarters adjacent to Cheney Lake making it one of the largest office buildings ever constructed in Northwest Washington In 1990 Microsoft announced plans to move its research lab from Redmond ,Washington into Bellevue across Lake Union which would have created over 1 million jobs within ten years The last major employer left was Boeing Co., who closed its factory there in 2001 but continued operations until 2006 inside Boeing Field next door to Interstate 5 North . In 2007 Boeing announced plans to demolish the entire factory completely and create an airport nearby using land that had been leased from Microsoft
