Lynden is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,564 at the 2010 census. Lynden is located on the eastern edge of Seattle and bordered by lake Union to the north, Bellevue to the east, Issaquah to the south, and Bothell to the west. The incorporated towns of Lynnwood and Kent are also within Lynden's boundaries. The first people in what is now Lynden were Native Americans who hunted game in the area. In 1854 John Purdy built a log cabin on what is now Park Road northeast of present-day Lynden. At that time it was one of three settlements in King County; all others were founded later around this time including Everett and Mountlake Terrace. In 1862 Ayer Dutton established a mill here which soon became an important center for local paper manufacturing and commerce. Paper products from Lynden include newsprint, flyers, postcards and invitations/notesbook covers until about 1910 when oil became an important factor in American industry and production shifted emphasis to other mills near Seattle. In 1903 Wm Hargrave began selling ice cream from his house on Main Street southwest of present day Lynden (now part of Baker Lake). It would be another decade before he opened his own grocery store next door on First Avenue SW., where he would continue serving up delicious treats until 1955 when he sold his business to Fred Meyer Incorporated. By that time much of what had been produced here had moved off-site or been destroyed by fire or other factors making it difficult or impossible to revive local businesses - but not before leaving behind some very memorable names such as "Hargrave's", "Meyer's" etc... Today many residents claim they remember either their childhood friend Wm Hargrave or Fred Meyer Shopping Center fondly because those memories remain etched into their memories long after they leave town! One reason why so many residents maintain strong ties with their hometown through nostalgia is because there has never been any major large-scale development here since 1907 when Roycroft & Company erected its first store on State Highway 99 southeast of today's downtown core (now University District). That company went out of business several years later but its legacy lives on thanks largely to Roycroft Rd., which still runs adjacent to campus as part of SR 99E between Central Campus Drive NE and Stadium Way NE.. Other small businesses have followed suit over time: AnheuserBusch left behind a large warehouse complex southwest of town; Northwest Dairy left behind two milk stores that closed down around 1990; Safeway wound up open across SR 99E from central campus drive NE until 2003; Dick’s Sporting Goods pulled down its entire building south side just outside town limits in 2000-01) . Lynden has always been known for its excellent quality home appliances such as ranges, ovens, dishwashers etc...
