Lynden is one of the oldest communities in Washington and has been around since 1851. The community is located on the south bank of the Spokane River and is bordered by Cheney to the east, Tyee to the west, Wenatchee to the north, and Auburn to the south. Lynden was founded in 1851 by James Hargrave and his wife Sarah. Hargrave was a surveyor who explored much of what would become Lynden Township. It first appeared on maps as "Hargrave's Ferry" in 1854. In 1861, James Hargrave donated land for a school in what would become Lynden Township. The first school building was built on this site in 1865-66. It served as a public school until 1959 when it became part of South Wenatchee School District #1 which today operates Star Lake Elementary School across from WalMart (which opened in 1962). The next year saw another donation from James Hargrave that led to construction of an addition to what would become South Wenatchee High School; this addition still stands today (along with North Wenatchee High School). In 1966, South Wenatchee Middle School opened its doors following merger betweenSouth Wenatchee Schools #2 & #3 and Cheney schools #1-3 along with Eastman Elementary School (#2) which also merged into South Wenatchee Schools during that same year; all these schools are now known as Lynden Middle/High Schools being located off US Highway 395 just east of SR 99W exit 515 outside of town limits In 1987 another donation led to construction of Central High School which now stands adjacent to Pine Forest Mall across from Walmart after years of planning and fundraising efforts by local parents including Betty Ayanaka who chaired South Wenatchee Community Development Committee during that time In 2000 yet another donation allowed for construction for North Lynne Jr./Sr High school which sits adjacent to West Valley Mall just east of SR 99W exit 495 outside town limits currently serving students from all 7 wards withinsouth wenatchee village Limits

Lynden, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census. Lynden is located on the eastern edge of the developed city of Seattle and is bordered by Issaquah to the south and east, Redmond to the north, and Everett to the west. The first European settlers in what became Lynden were Dutch farmers who began arriving in 1792. They named their new land "Haven" after a small hill near their farmstead in present-day Lynnwood. The first postmaster for Lynden was James Caldwell in 1804. A school was built in 1806 and used as an academy until it burned down in 1868. The town's first store opened on November 1, 1809. Reverend Samuel Morse donated land for a Methodist church which was dedicated on October 12th of that year. A millrace ran through Lynden from approximately 1800 until about 1850 when automated mills became available downstream from Seattle making production much more efficient than hand mills which had been operating continuously since before that time. Lynkenians also enjoyed fishing opportunities along both the Duwamish River and various tributaries that provided access to Puget Sound including Maple Leaf Creek (now Lake Union) and Snoqualmie Creek (later renamed White Center Creek). In1869, Ladd & Company established one of America’s earliest department stores within easy walking distance of downtown Lynden with over 100 items Available On Demand! A fire destroyed most of downtown Bellevue early this morning but no injuries were reported as a result; this event underscored just how important retail destinations like Bellevue remained even during times of economic recession! In 1916 local hardware store owner John Sennett erected a large red barn out front on his property now known as Sennett Place which served as both a grocery store and post office until it burned down around 1984 due to arson by teenagers!!! In 1929 voters passed an ordinance providing for prohibition so prohibition enforcement continued into the 1970s when state law took over !! Lynda High School achieved its current configuration with two wings additionally constructed in 1961/1962 following damage caused by earthquake!!Through hard work by our faculty and staff together with contributions from many friends we have managed to maintain our top ranking among all public high schools across Washington State!!!!!!!!!
