This revamping of municipal boundaries caused much criticism from some residents who felt their community had been taken away by incorporation. Since then Prairie View Drive has been home to many businesses and professionals who work in western Washington State, although many locals still refer to themselves as "Longviewers."
Longview, Washington is a town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from "Long River", which flows through it. The history of Longview goes back to 1853 when James Long founded a trading post on the banks of the river. He named his post after himself and his brother-in-law John Lewis. The trading post was destroyed by Indians in 1854 but was rebuilt by Long and his family. In 1892, James A. Long donated land to build a school in what is now downtown Longview. longview High School opened in 1912 and was the first high school in Pierce County; it closed in 1976 but reopened as an online charter school in 2009. In 1916, James A. Long donated land for an agricultural college called Pacific Northwest Agricultural College (now Evergreen State University). It opened as Northwest Agricultural College (now part of Oregon State University) on October 21, 1916; it changed its name to Western Washington University on July 1, 1948 because of mergers with other universities that year (eastern Washington became part of Puget Sound Common Schools). In 1957–58, students from Whitman College moved into buildings adjacent to WAC and started a faculty collective known as “The Huckleberries” In 1969–70, WAC merged with Seattle-based Pilchuck Community College to form Washburn Teachers Colleges District No.-2 (WTCD-2). On February 14th 1970 all colleges & universities within WTCD-2 were combined under one roof at Washburn University becoming Washburn Teachers Colleges District No.-3 (WTCD-3). On July 1st 1978 Tacoma Community College joined WTCD-3 making Tacoma Teachers Colleges District No.-4 (TTCD-4). In 1990–91 Northridge Community College left TTCD-4 and formed Northridge Education System which became Northridge Community Colleges District #5(NECDC#5) on January 25th 1992 when NECDC#5 absorbed South Seattle Technical School District #1 aka Southside Technical SchoolDistrict #2 aka So Tech SchoolDistrict #3 aka SoTech 2SchoolDistrict #4aka South Side TechschoolDistrict#5aka SoTech 3SchoolDistricts merged onto one another creating what we know today as Northern Arizona State University From then until present day there has been no end to this merger/division process! Some people might say that it is too much work so they prefer not to learn about it 😕 But believe me when I tell you that if you want something done well - ask lots of people how they would do it! Anyway back to our story: MACOMPANY STADIUM WAS BUILT IN LONGVIEW IN 1995 AS AN ACCESS TO SPORTS UPDATE FOR THE COMMUNITY AND NOW PLAYS AGAIN AS AN OLYMPIC GOLF COURSE!

Longview is a town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The name of the town comes from the original First Nation group that settled there in 1792. The first European to see and describe Longview as it exists today was Captain George Vancouver in 1792 on his return trip from a trading voyage through what is now Canada. He named it New Westminster after his headquarters on the British Columbia side of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. In 1851, when Longview became an incorporated town, its post office was renamed North Bend; however, this name stuck and North Bend still appears on local street signs today. In 1916, during World War I, Longview's School District No. 1 closed its doors for lack of students to enroll due to wartime shortages caused by America's entry into war and subsequent inflationary prices in Europe. However, many residents took up teaching or serving in military service soon thereafter and school reopened in 1919 as Northwest Intermediate School with classes starting at 7:00 A.M.; eventually reaching 9th grade by 1931 when Grays Harbor Intermediate School opened nearby (now Thurston Community College). During World War II most residents chose not to take part in military service because they were too busy working farms or manufacturing products; however some did enlist and serve until 1945 when Japan surrender brought an end to hostilities in Asia. After the war ended many Japanese-Americans who had been living/working near Longview returned home; among these were Mr Miyake Kinji (1893-1978), who served as mayor from 1951-1965; Mrs Miyake Kinji (1895-1984) who served as Supervisor of Schools for Thurston County from 1966-1974; Mr Hideo Nishikawa (1925-2015) who served as Mayor from 1975-1995 & Mayor pro tempore from 1996 - 2002; Hiroyuki Yamamoto (1929-2011), a developer whose business interests included real estate development along Interstate 5 near downtown Seattle; In 1995 long view experienced yet another round of growth when Microsoft opened their new campus adjacent to Safeco Field which would later be known as One Microsoft Place™
