Longview is a small town in Clallam County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Longview was David Brewster in 1855. He and his family built a log cabin on the east side of what is now State Street. They were followed by other Fur traders and settlers, most of whom arrived during the gold rush of 1852–1853. In 1861, James Prentice established a gristmill on the west side of State Street; this mill provided flour to Longview until 1917 when a new flour mill was built on First Avenue south near present-day Interstate 5. The post office at Longview was established in 1872; it continued to be used until it closed in 1939. Early residents were primarily farmers who raised livestock and grew crops such as wheat, tobacco, potatoes, fruits and vegetables. The town's economy relied heavily on maritime shipping through its port at Bainbridge Island; however, with improved transportation methods over the years, Longview has become an important center for industry and commerce within Clallam County as well as neighbouring King County. One notable factory that operated in Longview during its early years was J & W Lumber Company which manufactured rafters for logging roads and bridges across Elliott Bay (now Lake Washington). In 1906 Pine Ridge School opened for grades K-12 in one of three buildings donated by Mrs John Bostwick from her farm near SR 520/I5 north of present day Interstate 5.. This school would later become known as Pacific Lutheran University after its move to Tacoma from Malmstrom AFB outside Bellevue WA beginning Fall 2007.. Today Pine Ridge School still occupies that building housing East Campus classrooms along with their Physical Education studio...Today our students attend many different types of schools around Tacoma including 3 Private Schools!

Longview is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. It is located on the banks of the Snake River. The town was founded in 1846 by settlers from British Columbia. Longview became an incorporated municipality in 1907. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. The first permanent inhabitants of the area now known as Longview were indigenous people who lived near what is now downtown Longview and used their nearby natural resources to support themselves and their families. The first white settler was John Aikens, who arrived around 1846. He built a log cabin on land that he had acquired from his Indian friends. In 1849, Aikens married Martha Jane Church and they moved into a new cabin built by him and his wife on land adjoining present-day First Avenue South and Northeast Boulevard. In1851, Aikens hired George Hargrave to help him clear some forest for planting crops and he soon realized that this area would be ideal for farming because of its rich soils, good water supply, and mild climate; accordingly, he began to build two farms: one near current-day northeast Boulevard (now First Avenue South) and another at what is now northwest corner of Northeast Boulevard (now Interstate 5). When it came time to select a name for the new town site, residents voted unanimously to adopt the name “Longview” after General James Longstreet’s regiment which fought at Antietam Creek during the American Civil War (1861-65). A post office was established at Longview in 1851; it closed in 1865 due to lack of mail service between Seattle and Tacoma then called Elliway due to Native American hostility towards white people crossing their territory without proper identification or license! In 1907, when Longview became an incorporated municipality it adopted its current name: “Longview” after General James Longstreet’s regiment which fought at Antietam Creek during the American Civil War (1861-65). At that time there were only about 25 citizens living within its limits – most of them farmers – but over time development has driven much growth inside its borders including several subdivisions including Crescent City Estates & North Loop Village just east of Interstate 5 where you can see today's popular nightlife district developing along I5 corridor.. Many residents continue living here today despite commuting distances thanks to long term relationships with our neighboring communities like Des Moines Junction/Everett or Bellevue
In 1876, a group of farmers in Longview founded the town on the east side of the Cascades. They named it after their home state of Washington, D.C., which was only two years away. The first store and post office opened in 1880. By 1890, there were five businesses in town and over 100 residents. In 1912, Longview was incorporated as a city by an act of the Washington State Legislature. The population reached 2,500 by 1920 and 5,000 by 1930. During World War II, Longview served as a military base for Pacific Northwest soldiers. After the war ended in 1945, the city experienced rapid growth with expansion into new neighborhoods including Eastside and Westside.
