Lakewood is a town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Washington County. The first people to inhabit what is now Lakewood were the local Clovis Indians. The first white settlers in what is now Lakewood were men named David and Solomon Hill who came three miles east of town in 1853. In 1886, John Day founded Day Brothers Brewery which became one of Lakewood's earliest commercial enterprises; during its early years it produced both beer and hard cider. In 1907, Day Brothers merged with Atherton Brewing Company which left behind a legacy that still exists today: two breweries - Day Brothers & Sons Brewery and Rogue Ales - produce over 1 million barrels (500,000 bottles) per year for consumers all over Oregon and California. The townsite aroundpresent-day Lakeside was laid out by George Stephenson around 1850 as part of a larger plan known as "Lakeside Circuit." Included within this plan were plans for mills/ Factories at present day Yreka (now Auburn), La Grande (now Salem), Groveland(now Hazleton), North Bend(now Olympia), Allensworth(now Tellico). It wasn't until after World War II that development really picked up in earnest around here; thanks largely to two major highway projects: US 99W – completed in 1949 – linking Portland with Seattle through Everett along I-5th Street and then jackhammering away at salmon rivers upstream finally widening I-5th Street past downtown into what is now known as Pioneer Square while also constructing new freeway ramps southward into downtown Tacoma making this once small farming community into one big city overnight! Today there are several restaurants scattered throughout downtown such as Indian Point Eats located just north of Pioneer Square next to Safeway; Bella Italian Kitchen & Bar inside CenturyLink Field across from Safeway; contemporary pizza place Pizzaiolo right off 5Th Avenue South between State St./PDX Station & NW corner 10 th Ave SE; riverboat themed restaurant Scenic Dunes Cafe overlooking Salmon Falls Reservoir just outside town limits across from Interstate 5 exit 11A - this being only the beginning...
