Lakewood is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,843 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bellevue–Everett–Zelandoni Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Lakewood were Captain George Vancouver and his men on their trading voyage Northwest in 1792. They were followed by Capt. James Cook two years later and during their stay they built Fort Victoria on the east side of present-day Lakewood Boulevard. In 1810, the U.S. Army moved Camp Doniphan from Zanesville to take up temporary quarters at Fort Nelson near what is now downtown Lakewood while construction was under way for Fort Lewis located about to the north on Elliott Bay and across Puget Sound from today's town limits. On February 15, 1811, Battle of Lakewood ensued as American forces led by Major General Isaac Watts defeated British forces under Rear Admiral John Severn attempt to retake Vancouver's lost fortifications south of present-day Seattle after previous successful attacks against them by Native Americans had failed. In 1847, gold was discovered in what is now Goldendale and early settlers started moving into that area around what is now southeast corner of Third Street and Eastern Avenue in what would become lake wood today; some 10 miles northwest of where it stands today as an unincorporated community called Aurora Heights (now Aurora). The post office opened July 4th, 1847 with six residents:George Wills (the postmaster), John Sutherlin (of Aurora Heights), Levi Coffin (a blacksmith), Daniel Webster (of Everett) . On January 1st 1865 Ephraim Burritt became Lakewood’s first white settler when he arrived from Olympia via Stagecoach Route 66 following a wagon ride lasting more than 160 miles over eight days across much Northwestern America – one third reaching “the most remote points imaginable” according to Burritt himself From this initial influx there soon grew into an established community characterized largely by agriculture with scattered households living off small plots orchards or fishing ponds situated primarily around Burke Road SW running parallel to SR 167 bisected by Burke Road then terminating northeast at US HWY 99W known then asSR 167 cutoff; approximately 50% major highways served only locals with few services available outside those towns; churches flourished including Episcopal church which seated 350 people inside and outside auditorium frequently demonstrated productions throughout entire county & town limits;; schools operated independently many times serving grades K-12 but generally meeting in other nearby communities until 1905 when state charter school movement initiated ultimately leading to consolidation within city Limits

Lakewood is a small town in Eastern Washington, U.S., located about 30 miles (48 km) south of Spokane on the Snake River. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census.
