After World War II ended there were more people moving into the town so development plans were put together for what would become Lakewood Commons Shopping Center although no agreement could be made between developers and residents due to lack of zoning regulations at that time On July 1st 1959 when King County joined with Puget Sound Regional Districts all villages within those districts were merged forming one municipality --Lakewood
