Lake Forest Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 146 at the 2010 census. The community was named after Boston's Lake Forest Shopping Center, which opened in 1927 and became one of the largest shopping complexes in the Northwest. The first post office in the area was called "Lake Forest" but it changed its name to "Fremont" in 1928 because of pressure from local farmers to open up land for farming. By 1905, when Seattle's original city limits were set forth, much of what is now Lake Forest Park had been annexed by Seattle as part of that city's growth. By 1907, most of the annexed land had been developed into flatlands for housing and commercial development; only a small piece of forest remained undeveloped south of Bellingham Road. In 1912, Tacoma citizens voted to annex Lake Forest Park as well and incorporation began on July 1 that year. Growth slowed during World War II due to scarce wartime resources and competition from other municipalities; however, annexation resumed following the war's end. In 1957, voters approved an act allowing for single-family housing on unincorporated lands east of Interstate 5; this led to rapid growth within the park boundaries as developers built subdivisions with names such as "Forest Glen," "Thornwood Hills," and "Pinecrest." In 1976, voters passed a resolution calling for changes in zoning regulations that would allow more dense development within the park boundaries; this led to continued growth until 1990 when voters reaffirmed their desire for single-family homes within park boundaries by passing another resolution prohibiting any new apartment buildings or other type of multifamily dwellings within 1/8 mile (1 kilometer) of any public school or playground

Lake Forest Park is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 47,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. Lake Forest Park occupies a total area of 33 square miles (87 km2), making it one of the smallest cities in King County by land area. The first humans to live in what is now Lake Forest Park were Native Americans who hunted and gathered resources near the present day site of the city. In 1853, Arapaho Chief Manuelito granted land to James Wickersham for his rancho de la Luna. This grant allowed Wickersham to build his home ontop of an ancient volcano known as Tequilapa Hill which he named "Wickerham's Hill". In 1892, $5,000 was bought from John Denny for land south of present day Snohomish Street and east of Interstate 5 between Arlington Heights and Mukilteo Streets. mining began on this property on January 15th 1893 called "Denny's Gold Mine" which produced over $3 million worth of gold over 10 years! The townspeople were so excited about this new development that they built their own school and streetlights! On October 1st 1903, voters approved a charter for Lake Forest Park – making it one of only two municipalities in King County with its own municipal government separate from Seattle municipality! The first mayor was Mrs. Anna Laidlaw who served until 1907; Mayor Harry Bemis served from 1909-1913; then Mayor Cesar Chavez took office from 1913-1920; Mayor Phelan Sargent served from 1920-1926; Mayor Percy Ewing served from 1926-1930; and finally Mayor Rufus Hite took office from 1930-1934. A major event that occurred during these years was World War II when various factories within the city started producing military goods such as radios and tanks! After the war ended, many people left town due to high housing prices but some stayed because they liked living close to nature!. Municipal services continued to be provided through Eddie Sutherland until May 6th 1965 when City Manager Clyde Howes assumed control over all municipal services effective that date resulting in increased efficiency for both City Councilmember Howes’s staff as well as easier communication between Councilmembers and management within City Hall. On November 1st 1966 residents voted 3-1 in favor of annexing portions of South Kirkland into the City Limits thereby creating what is now Bellevue while also annexing unincorporated areas including much newer neighborhoods like Northgate thrust into Lake Forest Park proper
Lake Forest Park was originally a tract of land that included much of what is now the city of Seattle. The area was first purchased by the King family in 1851, and it served as part of the kingdom until it was ceded to Washington in 1889. At that time, Seattle became an incorporated town, and Lake Forest Park became its separate municipal district. The park began to be developed as a recreational center for residents in the early 20th century. The first golf course opened in 1922, and later other courses were built. In 1954, the park became home to the world's first water slide. Today, Lake Forest Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Seattle.
