In 1896, a sawmill and gristmill were built on the north side of town by Jno. Aiken & Co.. They remain still in operation today. The first school opened in 1898; it continued to serve until 1957. It was replaced by a high school which burned down on April 15, 1962; it was rebuilt and named after local pioneer Mrs. Olga Jahnke (1859-1934). A community center and library were both built around this time; they are still operating today as separate entities with different addresses but sharing common facilities such as a gymnasium and auditorium/gallery combo located across First Street from their original locations near lunch counter #1 at 11am to 4pm weekdays during school hours or 10am to 1pm Saturdays during non-school hours (closed Mondays). As Wenatchee grew increasingly populous outside of its limits - becoming known for its nightlife - so too did Lacey become more rundown and unassuming within its own borders; despite numerous efforts made over decades from civic leaders alike to revive downtown areas such as Main Street or North Park Avenue - all without success - many residents nevertheless chose instead to stick around for reasons that have nothing whatsoever do withWhereasHiking opportunities abound throughout the surrounding rural rolling hills once enjoyed by locals looking out for game trails deep inside these same woods... those same woods are now home to countless homes perched atop hilltops commanding sweeping views straight down into Puget Sound... while much has changed elsewhere since pioneers arrived nearly 150 years ago: some things haven't!

Lacey is a small town in Washington state, located on the Olympic Peninsula. The population of Lacey was 621 at the 2010 census. It has been claimed as part of the Yakima area by both Yakama and Coeur d'Alene Native American tribes. The first permanent settler in Lacey was John Goodspeed, who arrived in 1847. Goodspeed built a log cabin on the peninsula and named it "Goodspeed's Landing." He married local girl Anna Kapp, who bore him two children: John and Eliza Goodspeed. In 1850, Goodspeed sold his land to Caleb Cranch for $100 cash. In 1853, former U.S. Senator Moses Evans moved from Olympia to Lacey with his family and began trading goods with local Indians for potatoes and other farm products. By 1865, Evans had become proprietor of Morella Mining & Manufacturing Company which mined copper and gold near present-day Lacey; he renamed it Morella Mines & Manufacturing Company after his wife's maiden name. Lacey became a key stop on the Oregon Trail during its early days because of its strategic location between Seattle and Tacoma along State Route 97 (now Interstate 5). The town began to grow rapidly due to logging and fishing opportunities available along the Sound River corridor; more than 180 businesses were licensed throughout 1911 when county seat Goldendale was established five miles away at what is now downtown Lacey (the current spelling came about in 1912 when Goldendale became an incorporated city). During World War II, many Japanese Americans were interned here under military jurisdiction following their relocation from Java to Washington state during Japan's war against America; many residents continued living here until they were finally allowed to leave in 1948 following Japan's victory over America in World War II. After the war ended, many Japanese people returned home but some still lived here into the early 1960s due to registration requirements set forth by then-Governor Ronald Reagan as part of post-war settlement process overseen by Ulysses S. Grant administration.. In 1958–1959 voters approved passage of Measure 2 creating George Washington University District No.—later changed to Century High School District No.—in anticipation that GWU would open nearby on campus later that year; however no development occurred as GWU opened only three years later in 1961 instead inside then-Temporary facilities on First Hill Road east of downtown where today’s Powell Hall stands (although someGWU students did attend school within Lacey until 1962). It wasn't until 1984 that another proposal—to build a new high school adjacent to Century High School—received approval from voters via proposition measure; construction began soon afterwards but stopped short due lack of funds A new high school facility opened approximately one mile southward across I-5 from downtown LACEY on November 14th 2009 – becoming one of just four high schools within DASHD boundaries!
