The Lacey Gun Club was founded in 1892 and currently operates out of the old Lacey store on State Route 5. The club is a favorite spot for local shooters to take their guns out for shooting practice.
Lacey, Washington is a small town located in Puget Sound just north of Seattle. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It sits on the eastern edge of King County and is bordered by Parkland to the north, Issaquah to the east, Bellevue to the south, and SeaTac Airport to the west. Lacey was founded in 1853 by Swedish immigrants who arrived on ship "Hiawatha." The name comes from an Ojibwe word meaning "place where they used to fishing." The town has been through many changes over its history. In 1871 it became part of what is now King County and changed its name to Lacey after contributing $5 towards building a courthouse in that year. In 1921 it merged with neighboring Issaquah and again changed its name to Lacey after contributed $10 towards constructing a schoolhouse. Finally, in 1959 it became an incorporated municipality with its own government. Today, Lacey is known for its rich agricultural history which includes produce such as apples, grapes, potatoes, onions and lettuce. It also produces hay, woolen fabrics and lumber. Additionally there are several factories in the town including Boeing Co., Microsoft Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., Starbucks Coffee Company and WSDOT's Snohomish County Transit Authority bus service which provides transportation between Lacey and nearby Redmond or Lynnwood. Lacey also contains a library which opened in 1951 and features more than 1 million items including books, periodicals and electronic media items such as DVDs or music players. The library also offers classes for adults as well as children ages 8 through 12th grade as well as special events such as playshops or book clubs throughout the year.
