Gun targets have been around in Kelso, Washington since the early 1800s. The first target was a large woodcock that was erected on the square in 1802. The first gun range in Kelso opened in 1861 and featured cannons that could be fired from an open field. In 1898, Kelso became the capital of what would become the Northwest Territories and a new target range opened at the former armory. In 1909, Kelso's city limits were expanded to include what is now downtown Kelso and a new target range was created there as well. By 1928, there were over 25 gun ranges in north-central Washington and Kelso was one of them. From 1908 until 1934, all guns used at these ranges were muzzle loading only. Thereafter, shotguns began to be used at some of these ranges and muzzle loading pistols became more common as well. Today, most Gun Range members are NRA members or have NRA membership cards which allow them access to many different types of firearms including muzzleloading shotguns, handguns, rifles and revolvers.

Kelso is a small town in Walla Walla County, Washington, United States. The population was 709 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Wenatchee- Reload Valley-Stevens Pass Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Kelso post office was established in 1882, and remained in operation until it closed on March 15, 1998. The community of Kelso developed around a sawmill that operated from 1892 to 1907 and then again from 1911 to 1915. The mill yielded a high quality lumber which was used for building in Kelso and throughout much of the Wenatchee Valley. A grocery store opened in 1903, followed by a bank and other businesses between 1909 and 1918. A school was built in 1924 and remains operational today as the Kelso School District #2 primary school. In 1972, an agreement was made among all parties involved with the shutdown of the sawmill that would allow for its demolition to be accomplished without any residents having to move; this allowed for development of what is now called "the mill village." TheVillage is composed primarily of brick homes dating back to the late 1800s while some newer homes were erected during the early 1990s following approval by city officials as part of plans to improve pedestrian access along US 95 corridor north of town center

Kelso is a town in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It has been home to the Kelso Indian Reservation since 1851. The first permanent settler in Kelso was Peter Murdoch in 1851. He and his family built a log cabin on the site of what is now the Kelso Elementary School. In 1861, Murdoch's Sawmill and Mfg. Co., became one of the first companies to offer goods and services online using telegraph technology. The company prospered until it went out of business in 1865 due to competition from railroadroads. In 1881, John Prentice set up a post office in Kelso after arriving from Mount Baker with his wagon train from Portland, Oregon via Tacoma. Prentice offered land for Post Office construction and opened the first post office on July 16th, 1881 at an elevation of . By 1890, there were fifteen Post Offices scattered throughout Snohomish County with an average population of 50 residents per office; Kelso had two Post Offices only (later renamed). In 1909-10, a group of businessmen led by Cushman Wirtz founded Washington Timber Sales Co., which became one of the largest wood marketing concerns in Western Washington during that time period! Today Wirtz Timberlands operates as part of Amazon Web Services based Outposte ILogistics Inc.; an eCommerce retailer adjacent to Interstate 5 minutes north west of Seattle Kelso played host to America's Cup races twice between 1946-1949: once against Dutch challenger Royal Yacht Club Nederland (RYC)Aug 29 1946 & again Aug 31 1949 against British challenger Hove Albion RN (BAV)both times anchored off shore near Bandon Bay both times weather permitting large crowds watched proceedings including Governor Arthur Perot who also participated both times
Kelso is located in the Walla Walla County, Washington region. The community was named for Captain James Kelso who explored and surveyed the area in 1824. Kelso had a post office from 1853 until 1907. The first school in Kelso was built in 1873 and operated by the Presbyterian Church. In 1907, the town became an incorporated town with a library, fire department, and other small services. The population of Kelso declined during World War II as many residents left to serve in the military or else took jobs outside of their homes. However, since the war has started to rebound with new businesses and residents moving into Kelso. In recent years, Kelso has seen growth due to its location on the Eastern Cascade Range and its easy access to Interstate 5 which provides transportation options for visitors and businesses alike.
