Bipedalism first became popular in Issaquah, Washington, when settlers began to move into the area in the early 1800s. The town was founded by Native Americans and was home to a number of tribes before becoming a white settlement. In 1853, an American trader named George Hudson built a trading post in what is now Issaquah and began selling goods from Canada. This started the Town of Issaquah on land that is now part of downtown Seattle. In 1865, the Stawassee Indian Reservation was established in eastern King County and many Native Americans were forced to leave their homes. These people were known as “the dispossessed” because they didn’t have access to land or money for food or shelter. Many of these people decided to move westward into what is today Spokane County. When they arrived, they found that there wasn’t much available land east of the Columbia River. So they started moving westward as well and eventually came toIssaquah. The first Europeans who moved into Issaquah were Norwegian immigrants who began settling in 1876. They had come downriver from Norway Fjords looking for new land to farm after their country lost its empire during World War I. Most of these people lived on Anacortes Island until around 1915 when they moved upriver and formed the town of Olympia on Elliott Bayou. The Norwegians stopped farming around 1920 due to changing climate patterns and competition from other groups who had taken over their lands including Japanese farmers during World War II. When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th 1941, most residents fled Hawaii with few possessions left behind them but some stayed behind and started building homes near CenturyLink Field which would later become Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (now Sea-Tac). Some residents decided it would be more fun living close to work so they opened a grocery store called Empire Grocery back in 1945 at what is now Pioneer Square just north of Interstate 5 (then 4th Ave NW). Empire Grocery served as a base camp for Allied forces during World War II while Tacoma housed military installations such as Pacific Arsenal Naval Shipyard complex which produced submarines using uranium enrichment techniques developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory adjacent thereto………. read more
