The Ferndale Shooting Protection Association was formed in 1966 to protect the citizens of Ferndale from unwanted gunfire. The association became a national organization in 1978 and continues to work to reduce dangerous shootings in the city. In addition, FSPA provides education on shooting safety for children and families.

Ferndale is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,533 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County and home to most of the University of Washington's campus. Ferndale is also known for its annual Ferndale Festival which takes place in early September. The first settler in what is now Ferndale was James Witherspoon who arrived on July 10th, 1847. He named his new land "Witherspoon Landing." In 1865, ferris wheels became popular here and many businesses opened up around them such as a post office (1865), bakery (1866), hotel (1868), grocery store (1869), livery stable (1871) and flour mill (1872). In 1882, an electric light company built a line between Seattle and Tacoma and needed to have a power plant close by so they decided on Ferndale as it would be convenient for transportations away from Tacoma. This made Ferndale one of the first cities in America to have electric lights! The community flourished with businesses opening up until World War II when most industry shut down due to rationing during the war effort. During World War II, many people lost their jobs because of aluminum production being cut back but that didn't stop people from coming into town for food or clothes shortages happening across much of America at that time; however, no similar shortages happened inFerndale! After World War II ended things slowly started picking up again with businesses starting up again along with growth within the community itself as more families moved into town since there had been so little joblessness after war-time Syria came into play bringing increased demand for goods exported out of America which caused prices for staple items like wheat to go up significantly which impacted local businesses negatively; however things are starting to change once again with recent investments brought about by Mayor Rich Beaulieu who has been working tirelessly towards creating more economic opportunity within the city limits whilepreserving historic properties&characteristics

Ferndale is a small town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 888 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. Ferndale was officially named after Justice John Ferndale on November 2, 1859, during the first territorial election in Oregon. The land around present-day Ferndale was given to George C. Simpson by Chief Josephine for his help with developing the town site and other improvements around it. The town began as a stop on the stagecoach route between Portland and Vancouver, British Columbia. early ferndales were known for their fruit trees and grapes which were handpicked and sold by farmers along the way. Ferndale has been home to several businesses over the years including A&P Supermarket, Pacific Northwest Paper Company, Safeway and KFC restaurants before becoming an incorporated city in 1975 when it annexed Unincorporated Village of Westgate Green from Clackamas County. In that year also came Addition Park which is located adjacent to downtown on North Fourth Street and contains two playgrounds/courses/theater/an amphitheater- all opened in 1976-77 by Mayor Lloyd Weingarten who had started planning it four years earlier while he served as Township trustee.. In 1984–85 Addition Park was again remodeled adding new streetscape features such as a lighted parkway flanked by planted trees with a fountain at each end - this program cost $5 million dollars
