Ferndale is home to the Washington Rifle and Pistol Club, one of the oldest rifle clubs in the United States. The club was founded in 1875 and today has over 350 members. The club’s history can be traced back to when Ferndale was a small town on the banks of the Columbia River. In 1873, a man named Alfred Sorenson built a rifle range in what is now known as Club Park. The range became an important part of local gun culture and helped spread hunting and shooting sports around the area. In 1911, the Washington Rifle Association (WRA) was organized and Ferndale became its first affiliate. WRA activities included shooting matches, NRA meetings, school programs, and other events throughout the region. In 1949, after years of growth and membership growth for both clubs, Ferndale decided it needed its own shooting range. A $10K grant from then-President Harry Truman allowed construction to begin on what would become known as North Range at East Union Street. Over time, North Range has become one of WRA’s most popular facilities with over 1,000 shooters using it annually! Today North Range is open to all gun enthusiasts who are interested in learning about firearms safety or just having some fun! Ferndale also had something very special happen during its time as an affiliate of WRA: It moved from being an agricultural community to becoming incubator for American Sniper fame Cody Garbrandt! After watching Garbrandt compete at two regional championships before moving on to nationals his senior year at Lewis & Clark College he knew that this was his chance! As it turned out, Garbrandt would rack up world records while competing for WRA affiliate Ferndale – including setting 6 international marksman exhibitions records between 2010-2013! Today we continue our proud history by hosting America’s largest AR15 tournament each year which draws top shooters from across Washington State! This event offers competitors a chance to battle against each other head-to-head in a competition where skills with rifles are put into play alongside strategies for correctly loading rounds into magazines! What better way than to celebrate all that our great town has accomplished together over these many years?

Ferndale is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2000 census. Ferndale has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 200 years and is one of several towns in the Yakima River Valley that remain remote and unmodified by white settlement. The first European to arrive in Ferndale was Captain George Vancouver on July 14, 1792. Ferndale was platted as a town on October 3, 1853 by Major John Swayne. The post office opened in 1854 and remained open until 1959. Ferndale's history can be traced back to pre- enslavement Native American cultures which were present throughout much of the Yakima River Valley area including today's Ferndale and parts of Ellensburg and Olympia. In 1865, when Congress passed the Indian Appropriations Act they appropriated land to be used as a reservation for the Yakama Nation under the assumption that all Indians would eventually become citizens of America. However only 2/3rds of this reservation ever became actual land due to bureaucratic problems with administering treaties made between America and various nations which had not ceded any land beneath their jurisdiction (the remaining 3/4ths became Seattle). In 1872, when gold was discovered near Goldendale in nearby Stevens County, Puget Sound settlers began arriving from both eastward into what is now King County & westward into what is now Spokane County seeking opportunities for mining wealth within such an isolated region perched atop a mountain peak surrounded by vast uncharted territory virgin to human exploration! This frontier spirit would continue through most of America’s Transcontinental Railroad era where men went “out West” hunting& prospecting while women stayed at home raising families; however ferndalese Pioneers did venture out onto trails leading eastward towards goldfields; some reaching as far as Auburn Hills & Wenatchee! Not long after these early pioneers arrived numerous other groups began traveling downriver valley searching for similar fortunes; among them were Russian miners who followed Clear Creek upstream from its source on Mount Rainier before striking it rich finding coal and silver deposits along its route! For several years following this initial rush there seemed no end to these burgeoning mineral empires—until finally in 1886 when President Grover Cleveland issued Executive Order 9604 demanding all wagon trains carrying minerals up the Columbia River stop because he believed coal supplies were becoming exhausted due to wars raging abroad! Needless to say this order had an immediate impact upon the industry as prices plummeted making it difficult for many companies to keep up with production! The Gold Rush period served as an important time during which many new technologies were born including railways; telephones; automobiles etc.; however due largely to political decisions made during this time none of these advances led directly or indirectlyto technological advancements here at home!! It wasn't until 1935 when Howard Hughes acquired control over US Steel which led him to develop airplane manufacturing here at home beginning with his famous #2 plane!! This event marked a turning point during which technology took center stage both domestically & internationally!!! Today we enjoy quality products manufactured here at home thanks largely once again our Government policies that have allowed us access economy oriented resources while maintaining our culture – something weboilingly appreciate
Ferndale was founded in 1872 by John C. Ferndale and his wife Anna. The Ferndales were pioneers in the area of transportation and retailing. They opened a small store on the corner of Second and Meridian Streets, which became one of the city's earliest business districts. In 1895, they added a department store on Fourth Street. The Ferndales also built an opera house in 1916 and operated it until 1971. In 1966, they donated their entire assets to the City of Ferndale for use as a local community center. Today, the center is home to the city's library, artspace, and several businesses includingthe Ferndale Café & Bakery.
