Ferndale is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 4,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The Ferndale Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892 by George C. Pease as an organization to improve marksmanship in the community. In 1915, the club became Ferndale Rifle and Pistol Association (FRPA). In 1940, FRPA merged with Seattle Rifle and Pistol Club to form Seattle Rifles and Pistols Association (SRPA). SRPA operated out of 14 members’ homes until 1949 when they moved to their current location on First Avenue West in Ferndale. From 1954 through 1984, SRPA served as president of the NRA Western Washington Chapter while also serving as vice president of the NRA National Federation of Gun Clubs. In 1984SRPA relocated back to their original home on First Avenue West before disbanding due to lack of interest from members. In 1990, SRPA reorganized into its present configuration with a focus on rifle shooting competitions held at various events throughout the year including trap matches, target shooting tournaments and state championships.LRSA has been active in promoting firearm safety education programs for youth ever since its inception which has helped contribute to overall gun control awareness among local residents

The post office was established in 1827 and remained open until 1959 when it became part of Seattle. In 1863, fernery pioneer John Wesley Eaton built a small log cabin near present-day Pioneer Square. Ferndale's economy grew rapidly during World War II as plants made munitions for the Pacific Theater; however, due to increased competition from other munitions manufacturers in postwar years, Ferndale's manufacturing base declined beginning in the late 1960s. By 2000s fernery production had revived somewhat thanks to investments by local entrepreneurs such as David Harrison and Erik Koopman among others Ferndale has experienced significant growth since its incorporation into city limits in 1968 – with various new streets and homes being developed throughout downtown along First Avenue NE/SE including:the Reynolda Place complex which includes over 100 high-end apartments/condos;the Kendall Yards redevelopment project which includes an NFL stadium/community center on top of an abandoned Boeing factory;and most recently springing up around Northwest 66th Street (northwest of Pioneer Square) include a mixed-use development called "The Enclave" consisting of residential units overlooking Interstate 5 freeway traffic while also featuring several restaurants/bars/. It has been reported that this city council effort will result in many more jobs coming here soon!

There are also several museums located throughout the downtown area including the Ferndale History Museum,the Willamette Valley Historical Museum (an affiliate of Oregon State University),the Pioneer Cemetery & Monument Park (a national historic site),and the North American Forest Preserve adjacent to ferndales high school field house housing several nature trails that meander through forested areas near the riverbanks.
Ferndale was founded in 1853 by Henry Ford. The town became a railroad town and is home to the Ferndale Depot, which is now a museum.
