The Ferndale gun store was founded in 1892 by William F. Dickey and his son, Charles. The store expanded rapidly and became a major player in the local ammunition market. In 1918, the store opened its own ammunition laboratory and production capacity. By the early 1920s, Dickey's had become one of the leading ammunition companies in the country. In 1924, Dickey sold his company to Remington Arms Company for $2 million. At Remington, John Browning began to lead the company's Ammunition research department and develop new types of firearms ammo. This led to innovations in rifle bullets and shotgun rounds that changed how wars were fought throughout history. In 1932, Remington merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form what is now known as Winchester Ammunition Incorporated (Winchester).
Ferndale, Washington is a small town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,645 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The name "Ferndale" was given to the community by George Ferndale in 1887 while he was working as a wagon driver in central Puget Sound. The first settlers were farmers and their families who arrived around 1855. By 1865, there were over 100 residents living in Ferndale. They built a log cabin and named it "The Elm". A post office was established in 1868 and remained open until 1915. At that time it served the entire Thurston County area including Ferndale itself which had a population of just fifty people! In 1907, fernery manufacturer J P Beattie opened a plant here that produced corduroys for export to Japan. The plant closed in 1951 but left an legacy of manufacturing vehicles here that still continue today such as GMC Yukon pickups and Chevrolet Camaro convertibles! In 1990, when Microsoft moved its headquarters from Redmond to Seattle – this also happened to be within walking distance of the old Beattie facility – Ferndale's only industry remaining was power generation from watermelons! Today, though not as active as it once was due to competition from more recent industrial developments nearby (the Microsoft campus being especially egregious), Ferndale retains some notable traditions such as its annual Festival of Arts which attracts international artists; its annual Grain Market Day where farmers from all around Thurston County come together to sell local produce; and its Historic District which has several locally significant buildings dating back to the early 1800s including The Elm Log Cabin and Grange Schoolhouse (now used as apartments).

After centuries of development, modern ammunition finally came into existence in 1853 when a man named John Brown invented a process known as powder metallurgy which allowed bullets to be made out of smaller particles than ever before possible. This led to pistols being able to shoot much farther than ever before thanks to this technology! Ammunition also began becoming more efficient over time due to improvements in manufacturing techniques and materials used in each bullet design.
