The first post office was established at Ferndale on January 1, 1889; it closed February 15th due to lack of mail service between Everett and ferndale The county seat for Jefferson County until 1907 was Wenatchee; however, because Wenatchee had no water system except an open well which became polluted with chalk dust every month or so due to improper use by residents caused by Mining Company operations there started to be calls for a new county seat elsewhere in Washington State but nothing came about until 1909 when commissioners decided on Ferndelle because it had railroads passing through it (the first train stopped at Ferndale Depot on November 13th 1889) In 1916 voters passed an ordinance forbidding women from voting without men witnessing them do so On October 25th 1921Ferndelle voters passed an ordinance allowing liquor sales starting September 16th 1921 until midnight only within city limits That same year ferdales
